Teacher Assistant

What You'll Do Ensure a learning environment that helps children develop physically, emotionally, socially, cognitively, and creatively. Support the implementation of activities that promote social, emotional, cognitive, physical, and creative development of children. Maintain program compliance with oversight agencies, such as DOE and DOHMH, and overall CHLDC-UCC policies. Share job-related knowledge with team members to promote and support their professional growth. Participate in regularly scheduled staff and team meetings, classroom development workshops, and trainings conducted by funding/leading expert agencies as directed by the supervisor when permitted by schedule. Engage in center-related services/activities such as end-of-year celebrations, special performances, family events, etc. Establish and maintain positive relationships with parents and families through open communication, training, and other developmental activities. Adhere to Agency (UCDCC) policies and procedures; seek guidance/clarification from the Educational Director regarding interpretation, applicability, and implementation. Strictly adhere to, and enforce, the Agency policy regarding confidentiality and HIPAA requirements. Demonstrate commitment to leadership development, community building, and community organizing as strategies for social change. Perform other related duties as assigned, consistent with the above. Requirements Availability to follow the schedule of 3:15 pm–6:00 pm, Monday through Friday. At least eighteen years old. High‑school diploma or equivalent (GED). Clear DOE and DOHMH fingerprinting and background authorizations. Daily reliable transportation to Brooklyn, NY. Nice to Haves Bilingual (English/Spanish/Bengali) is a plus. Experience with specific early‑childhood age groups as required by Article 47. Ability to work with children under three years old requires: At least 21 years old. Either an associate’s degree in ECE or a Child Development Associate credential with a study plan, or a high school diploma with nine college credits in ECE/child development, two years of experience caring for children, and a study plan. Benefits Hourly position: 12–14 hours per week, Monday through Friday. Pay rate: $17.00–$20.00 per hour, based on education and experience level.
