Registered Nurse Cardiac Stepdown

Job Summary:

The Cardiovascular Step-Down Nurse provides specialized care for postoperative cardiac patients, including those recovering from heart cath procedures, open-heart surgery, and managing cardiac drips. This role requires delivering high-quality, patient-centered care within a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities:

• 
  Administer and monitor cardiac medications, including drips, and provide post-op care for cardiac patients.
  
  
• 
  Utilize Epic EMR to document clinical interventions, assessments, and patient progress accurately.
  
  
• 
  Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to coordinate patient care and ensure timely recovery.
  
  
• 
  Respond to patient needs promptly, especially in critical or fluctuating clinical situations.
  
  
• 
  Support patient recovery by managing ventilated and complex cardiac cases when necessary.
  
  
• 
  Float to other units during low census or staffing shortages, maintaining flexibility and clinical competency.
  
  

Qualifications:

• 
  Hold a valid RN license with a minimum of 3 years of cardiac step-down nursing experience.
  
  
• 
  Demonstrate proficiency in Epic EMR and open-heart post-op care.
  
  
• 
  Possess BLS and ACLS certifications.
  
  
• 
  Have experience caring for cardiac catheter recovery, open-heart patients, and cardiac drips.
  
  
• 
  Be capable of managing ventilated patients in rare circumstances if required.
  
  
• 
  Be available to work a night shift (7 p.m. 7:30 a.m.) and every third weekend, with flexibility for additional holiday coverage.
