The ideal candidate is a driven trial lawyer with several years of personal injury experience who is ready to take on significant responsibility in an active, trial-oriented practice. We offer a hybrid work environment but request a minimum of three in-office days per week.QualificationsActive DC, Maryland, and/or Virginia bar membership (required)2–6 years of experience in personal injury litigation — experience on either the plaintiff or defense side will be consideredDeposition experience — both defending and taking depositionsWorking knowledge of litigation procedure, including discovery, motions practice, and case management in DC/MD/VA state and federal courtsTrial experience — the candidate should have participated in at least one trial through verdict (first-chair experience is a plus but not required)Strong legal research and writing skillsAbility to manage a caseload independently while collaborating with partners and support staffCommitment to representing individuals, not insurance companiesResponsibilitiesManage a docket of personal injury cases from intake through resolutionDraft pleadings, discovery requests and responses, motions, and trial memorandaTake and defend depositions of parties, fact witnesses, and expertsRepresent clients at hearings, arbitrations, and mediationsSecond-chair and eventually first-chair jury trialsConduct legal research and develop case strategyCommunicate regularly with clients, opposing counsel, and courtsCompensation & BenefitsSalary commensurate with experienceHealth insurance401(k) retirement planLiberal vacation and other leave policiesProfessional development and CLE supportKoonz McKenney Johnson & DePaolis LLP is an equal opportunity employer.
