Recruiting Specialist/HR Assistant

Position Overview
The Recruiting Specialist/HR Assistant is responsible for supporting the human resources department with recruiting administration and other general HR tasks. Works with the HR Generalist and other team members to maximize the efficiency of the department in support of the organizational goals and standards.
Wage Range $23-25 per hour
Key Responsibilities (Essential Duties and Functions)
- Assist hiring managers with requests including posting available positions, advertising, scheduling and dispisitioning candidates as well as applicant communication.
- Perform phone screens and assist hiring managers with interview process.
- Conduct new hire orientation on a weekly basis.
- Job fair coordination including attendance, set up and ordering gift items.
- Lead recruiting update meetings with leadership.
- Maintain and communicate recruiting and HR related metrics to leadership.
- Answer incoming HR phone calls and inquiries.
- Assist with administration of drug testing policies and processes across the business.
- Maintain HR records and related electronic databases. This may include scanning, filing and tracking of information.
- Assist and provide relief to the Onboarding Specialist including but not limited to: offer letter preparation, coordination of pre-employment screening/paperwork; DOT qualification files, unemployment administration and data entry.
- Provides outstanding customer service when answering employee requests and questions or by directing those to applicable resources as appropriate.
- Maintains a professional demeanor when dealing with critical and/or confidential information.
- Restricts discussion/knowledge of information to a "need to know" basis.
- Maintains knowledge of applicable state, local and federal laws related to human resources.
Other duties and projects as assigned.

Education/Experience
High School diploma or general education degree (GED) required. Associates degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school preferred; and 1-3 years related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred.
Work Requirements
Must be 18 years in age or older. Must pass pre-employment drug screen and criminal background check. Valid state driver's license and satisfactory driving record is required. Strict adherence to safety requirements and procedures as outlined in the Employee Handbook. Regular, on-time and consistent attendance is required and must be willing to work nights and weekends when necessary.
Knowledge/Skill Requirements
Must be proficient in Microsoft suite of tools including Excel, Word and Outlook, and database software. Must be able to utilize internet and communicate effectively. Ability to summarize data from different sources into a concise format that can be easily expanded and communicated to support initiatives. Highly developed verbal and written communication skills. Ability to follow complex verbal and written instructions. Demonstrate a hands-on, collaborative approach, work well in a team. Effective verbal and written communication skills and an ability to work with management at different levels. Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out written or oral instructions. Ability to work independently without constant supervision. Ability to handle confidential information in a discreet, appropriate manner.

- Frequently required to reach with hands and arms, talk, hear and lift and/or move up to 10 lbs.
- Regularly required to sit and use hands and fingers to manipulate/handle objects.
- Occasionally required to stand, walk, stoop, kneel or crouch, lift and/or move up to 25 lbs.
- Able to communicate with others by telephone and in person.
- Able to utilize office equipment including a computer for word processing, email communication, and preparation of documents and presentations.
- May require sitting for extended periods of time.
Work Environment
The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet to moderate. The environment is typical of an office setting.
