ICU Registered Nurse

Job Title: ICU Registered Nurse Profession: RN (Registered Nurse) Specialty: Intensive Care Unit Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12H Nights Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum of 2 years License: Required Certifications: ACLS, BLS Certification, NIHSS Must-Have: - Strong IV skills - Comfortable with ABCDE bundle and managing ventilators - Proficient in managing DKA, hyperglycemia, COPD, CVA, and other critical conditions Description: The unit consists of 20 beds, providing critical care to a diverse patient population. Nurse-to-patient ratio is 1 to 2. Each shift has a Charge Nurse who serves as a resource and does not take patients. Nurses must read and interpret their own telemetry strips. There is a respiratory therapist available 24/7. Pharmacy services are available 24/7 as well. Traveling staff may be deployed to care for boarded ICU patients in other areas. Floating to various units is required; travelers are the first to float. Weekend work is required for 2 out of the 4 weekends per month. Holiday work is based on unit needs. Nurses will undergo floor-specific orientation. Common diagnoses include sepsis, GI bleeds, and patients recovering from surgery in the ICU. Candidates should be prepared to manage sedatives and critical medications like norepinephrine. A strong commitment to patient care and adaptability to dynamic clinical environments is essential.
