Senior Dresses Designer

The Senior Dress Designer is responsible for conceptualizing and developing 45–60 innovative, trend-forward, and cost-effective dress styles each month. Owning the entire product lifecycle—from sourcing compelling initial inspiration to delivering the final approved sample—this role serves as a key creative driver and leader within the design department. In addition to spearheading the dress category's creative direction, the Senior Dress Designer manages the daily workflow and collaborates cross-functionally to ensure all collections seamlessly align with Edikted’s overarching brand vision and seasonal goals. Key Responsibilities Concept & Inspiration: Develop original seasonal dress concepts and source deep-dive inspiration, presenting these visions to the Trend Team to drive a cohesive, commercially viable, and trend-forward collection. End-to-End Ownership: Drive the dress design process entirely from initial ideation and sketching to the final approved product. Tech Pack Creation: Create and oversee detailed tech packs that clearly communicate design intent, including precise dress construction, draping, and finish details for flawless execution by development teams. Material Sourcing: Proactively source new, trend-right fabrics, trims, and materials specific to dresses (e.g., wovens, knits, linings, and specialty hardware) ahead of each season, presenting selections to the Trend Team and VP of PD. Proto Fittings: Lead proto fittings for adopted dress styles, ensuring optimal fit, drape, and design integrity are maintained while actively incorporating feedback from Buyers and cross-functional teams. Timeline Management: Manage seasonal calendars and key development milestones, ensuring all deadlines are met and the dress design process stays strictly on track. Cross-Functional Collaboration: Maintain consistent, proactive communication with partners—including the overseas development team, Production, and Creative teams—to ensure the design vision is executed accurately. Sample Tracking: Manage the tracking of sample statuses and development timelines, proactively flagging risks and opportunities in the dress development pipeline. Mentorship & Leadership: Mentor and guide junior designers, providing constructive feedback, sharing expertise in dress construction, and offering career development support. Troubleshooting: Actively troubleshoot design and production issues alongside management, serving as a reliable resource and problem-solver for the team. Market Research: Conduct ongoing market research to source fresh dress inspiration, staying highly informed on emerging silhouettes, the competitive landscape, and category innovation opportunities. Qualifications & Skills Degree: Bachelor’s or Associate’s degree in Fashion or Apparel Design. Experience: Minimum of 5–8 years of experience in fashion design, with a strict requirement of specialized, hands‑on experience in the dress category. Leadership: Proven leadership and team management capabilities. Technical Skills: Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop) and Microsoft Excel. Design Acumen: Strong design aesthetic, color sense, and conceptual development skills specifically tailored to dress silhouettes and trends. Technical Knowledge: In-depth knowledge of dress‑specific garment construction, draping, fit, fabrication (wovens, knits, linings), prints, trims, and embellishments. Organization: Strong organizational, time management, and communication skills.
