Degree in American Sign Language (ASL) Interpreting, certified ASL Interpreter credentials, and 1+ year of experience as an ASL Interpreter in educational settings. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.

Key Qualifications:

• Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) and fluency in interpreting between ASL and English
• Demonstrated experience as a sign language interpreter, ideally in a school or educational setting
• National certification (such as EIPA, RID, or equivalent) preferred
• Ability to work collaboratively with educators, students, and support staff
• Strong interpersonal skills, professionalism, and flexibility in a fast-paced environment
• Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and adhering to professional ethical standards

Core Responsibilities:

• Facilitate communication for students who are deaf or hard-of-hearing during classroom lessons, school functions, and extracurricular activities
• Interpret spoken English into ASL and vice versa for individual students, small groups, and all-school events as needed
• Collaborate with classroom teachers and staff to support instructional goals and inclusion
• Provide feedback and insights regarding student communication and participation
• Assist with translating written materials when necessary
• Foster a respectful and supportive atmosphere conducive to learning
