Within a small community hospital, the Med Surg RN serves a diverse population of adult and pediatric patients with pre- and post-operative and general medical conditions. Low patient to nurse ratios and a team-oriented environment support comprehensive assessments, timely interventions, and individualized education. Available equipment includes modern bedside monitoring, barcode medication administration, and ultrasound guided IV tools for safe and efficient practice. Convenient access to surgery, imaging, and the emergency department helps streamline handoffs and expedite plan of care implementation. Cross-training opportunities enable the Med Surg Nurse to expand competencies while supporting a flexible, high-performing unit.

Working within a supportive reporting structure, the Med Surg RN receives direction from the Charge Nurse while partnering closely with an interdisciplinary team. Daily responsibilities encompass the complete nursing process from assessment, planning, intervention, implementation, and evaluation to delivering safe, effective outcomes for surgical, medical, and pediatric patients. Requirements include graduation from an RN program and an active Montana RN license, with BLS, ACLS, and PALS to be completed within six months of hire.
