About the Role:
New Orleans Smiles is looking for a skilled and passionate Bilingual (English/Spanish) Expanded Duty Dental Assistant (EDDA) to join our full-time team in Metairie, LA! This is a fantastic opportunity to make a real difference in patients' lives by delivering exceptional dental care in a welcoming, bilingual environment.

Responsibilities:

• Assist the dentist chairside during a variety of dental procedures including restorations, extractions, and preventive care
• Perform expanded duty functions as permitted by Louisiana state EDDA certification
• Communicate effectively with English- and Spanish-speaking patients to explain procedures and post-op instructions
• Take and develop dental radiographs (X-rays) following safety protocols
• Prepare, sterilize, and maintain dental instruments and operatory equipment
• Record patient medical histories, treatment notes, and updates in dental practice management software
• Provide compassionate patient education on oral hygiene and treatment plans

Requirements:

• Active Louisiana EDDA (Expanded Duty Dental Assistant) certification required
• Bilingual fluency in English and Spanish — both written and verbal
• 1+ years dental assisting experience preferred
• Radiography certification or X-ray licensure required
• Familiarity with dental practice management software (Eaglesoft, Dentrix, or similar)
• Strong interpersonal skills with a patient-centered, compassionate approach
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, team-oriented dental office environment
