About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Progressive Care Unit Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum 2 years License: Must have a valid nursing license prior to the start date Certifications: ACLS, BCLS Must-Have: Proficient in cardiac monitoring Management of chest tubes Fresh tracheostomy experience Feeding tube care and management Care of post-operative patients Epidural management Management of non-titratable cardiac drips IV insulin protocols and titration Experience with external BiPAP/CPAP Doppler flap checks Description: First time travelers are accepted. Locals are not accepted. Travelers are expected to work every other weekend per their contract. Pending operational needs, consecutive weekends may be needed based on the greatest need. Unit charge nurse responsibilities may be needed with provided training and resources. Travel nurses may have the possibility of precepting and/or being assigned students to shadow. Travelers must float to different levels of care, such as Med-Surg, PCU, or ICU, with resources provided as needed. Refusal to float may end in termination of the contract. Staffing ratios are 1:3-4. The unit is a Surgical PCU with almost ICU level acuity, handling a variety of surgical cases. Interdisciplinary support includes physical therapy, respiratory services, interpretation services, radiology, social services, and rapid response teams. All candidates must be able to document and provide previous charge experience as preferred. Candidates should have a strong background in management of various lines and tubes, as well as care for post-op patients. Experience with enteral feedings is also necessary. All candidates will be required to float within the hospital or to nearby affiliates. Two supervisor references are required. All certifications and licenses must be current and in hand before the start date.
