Certified Patient Care Assistant Medical Surgical

Primary City/State: Chandler, Arizona. Department Name: Med/Surg-4th Floor-Hosp. Work Shift: Day (6:00am – 6:30pm). Full‑time with weekend rotations and differential pay. Job Category: Clinical Care. Position Summary The Certified Patient Care Assistant (CNA) provides routine patient care and contributes to the overall patient plan of care on the 60‑bed Adult Acute Care service line at Banner Ocotillo Medical Center. Responsibilities include patient data collection, documentation, unit support, and patient transportation. Core Functions Assist with activities of daily living, including hygiene, mobility, and nutritional intake. Collect patient specimens and data (vitals, I/O, other delegated measurements) and document objective data in the medical record. Recognize and report abnormalities or changes in patient status to a licensed professional; communicate status to other caregivers. Perform procedures and use equipment delegated by a licensed professional, such as blood draws, Foley catheter removal, and ECG monitoring. Support reception and clerical duties to maintain efficient operation and communication flow. Maintain complete patient records, including admission, transfer, discharge, progress notes, and consent forms; ensure charting forms are scanned or filed. Maintain adequate supplies of office, dietary, and medical supplies; process requisition forms and reconcile orders. Assist with patient transport, including pre‑operative and post‑operative patients to critical care; participate in OR room turnover. Work under supervision with responsibility limited to the assigned unit; interact with staff, patients, families, and physicians. Minimum Qualifications High school diploma, GED, or equivalent. Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification. Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) in the state of practice. 1+ year of medical clerical experience, preferably in hospital or physician office, or prior experience in customer service. Excellent organizational, human‑relations, and communication skills. Working knowledge of medical terminology and computer literacy (keyboarding). For certain assignments: minimum passing score of 85% on an ECG or EEG test and successful completion of an approved ECG/EEG interpretation course. Employees in behavioral health clinical settings serving children: Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card and Arizona Criminal History Affidavit required at hire and maintenance during employment. Preferred Qualifications Licensed Nursing Assistant (LNA) licensure in Arizona. Recent healthcare experience. Enrollment or completion of an approved unit secretary program.
