Senior Accountant – Fully Remote / Work from Home

A San Diego, California–based company is seeking a Senior Accountant for a fully remote position available to candidates nationwide. The ideal candidate is self-motivated and comfortable working in a multi-faceted environment. Must be reliable, accurate, a conscientious and responsive communicator, attentive to detail, and able to maintain a positive attitude. Requires the ability to prioritize based on company objectives, multitask effectively, and manage tasks independently.

The company operates in multi-states, providing staffing services for both government and private sector. Candidate has an exceptional work ethic and is subject to a background check. This position reports directly to the Director of Finance.

• Manage Accounts Payable and Receivable — Oversee full-cycle processing and ensure timely payments and collections.

• Payroll and Benefits Administration — Complete payroll cycle, including timecard and leave review, worksheet preparation, approved import, and precise vacation and sick benefit application; Paychex experience preferred.

• Maintain QuickBooks File — Keep records current to ensure monthly financial statements are ready at month end.

• Prepare Journal Entries and General Ledger — Record transactions and maintain ledger accuracy.

• Review and Reconcile Bank Statements — Verify balances and resolve discrepancies promptly.

• Manage Multi-State Reporting and Compliance — Ensure adherence to state-specific tax and regulatory requirements.

• Perform Administrative Accounting Tasks — Support other duties as assigned to maintain departmental efficiency.

Requisite Skills and Abilities:

• QuickBooks (Desktop) proficiency

• Microsoft Excel expertise

• Analytical and Problem-Solving skills

• Payroll processing knowledge — Understanding of tax withholdings, journal entries, and benefit calculations.

• Confidentiality and Security Awareness

• High level of accuracy, organizational and time-management skills

• Detail-oriented and organized

• Professional Communication skills

• Research and Troubleshooting skills

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field with 5+ years of solid accounting experience.

Compensation:  

• Salary range up to $85,000 per year, based on experience
