High School Spanish Teacher

Starting Date: Jul 1, 2026 Overview The following duties are normal for this position. Other duties may be required and assigned. Responsibilities Administers and develops subject‑specific assessments to assess student competency and develop individual learning plans. Advises parents/legal guardians of student progress, communicating expectations and achievements, and reinforcing classroom goals at home. Assesses student progress towards standards and goals to provide feedback to students, parents, and administration. Collaborates with instructional staff, school personnel, parents, and community resources to improve student outcomes and support the school improvement plan. Counsels students to improve performance, health status, problem‑solving techniques, and personal issues. Demonstrates and differentiates methods required to perform classroom/subject‑specific assignments, addressing individual student requirements. Instructs students to improve academic success through a defined course of study. Manages student behavior, providing a safe and optimal learning environment. Monitors students in various educational settings (classroom, school grounds, hallways, restrooms, field trips, etc.) to maintain a safe and positive learning environment. Participates in meetings and professional development activities to convey and gather information required for performance. Prepares written materials (grades, lesson plans, correspondence, examinations, quizzes, attendance, anecdotal records) to document progress and meet mandated requirements. Reports incidents (fights, suspected child abuse, substance abuse, harassment, zero tolerance offenses, etc.) to maintain safety and comply with state law and board policies. Responds to emergency situations to resolve immediate safety concerns or direct to appropriate personnel. Directs teacher assistants, student teachers, instructional assistants, volunteers, and student workers to provide an effective classroom program. Performs other related duties, as assigned, to ensure efficient and effective functioning of the work unit. Supports other classroom teachers in implementing curriculum and individual student plans. Demonstrates and models integration of technology in all curriculum areas. Follows a plan for professional technology development and seeks opportunities for professional growth. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor’s degree and endorsement in the grade/subject taught with a valid Tennessee teaching certificate. Highly qualified teacher. Physically and mentally able to perform the responsibilities and duties of the position. Governance under the Rules and Regulations of the Tennessee Code Annotated and the Tennessee Board of Education. Performance Aptitudes Data Utilization: Requires the ability to review, classify, categorize, prioritize, and analyze data to recognize actual or probable interactive effects and relationships. Human Interaction: Requires the ability to provide guidance, effective supervision, assistance, and interpretation to others regarding the application of procedures and standards. Equipment, Machinery, Tools, and Materials Utilization: Requires the ability to operate and control equipment, machinery, tools, and materials used in performing essential functions. Verbal Aptitude: Requires the ability to utilize a wide variety of reference, descriptive, and advisory data and information. Mathematical Aptitude: Requires the ability to perform addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, calculate decimals and percentages, use principles of fractions, and interpret graphs. Functional Reasoning: Requires the ability to apply principles of rational systems, philosophies, laws, regulations, and procedures; interpret instructions in written, oral, diagrammatic, or schedule form; and exercise independent judgment to adopt or modify methods and standards. Situational Reasoning: Requires the ability to exercise judgment, decisiveness, and creativity in situations evaluating information against measurable criteria and the goals and priorities of planning and development programs.
