Job Summary

We are seeking a detail-oriented Materials Specialist to support warehouse, inventory, shipping, and receiving operations in a fast-paced locomotive manufacturing environment. This role is responsible for inventory control, material movement, cycle counting, order fulfillment, shipping coordination, and warehouse operations while ensuring accurate inventory records and timely material availability for production.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage inventory, warehouse, and material control activities in a high-volume production environment.
• Pull, issue, and replenish materials to support production and locomotive assembly.
• Perform daily cycle counts and inventory audits to maintain inventory accuracy.
• Monitor stock levels, identify shortages, and coordinate replenishment activities.
• Forecast material requirements based on production schedules and inventory demand.
• Receive, inspect, store, and distribute incoming materials and shipments.
• Coordinate LTL, expedited, and Hazmat shipments while ensuring proper shipping documentation.
• Process shipping, receiving, inventory, and material transactions using Oracle and other warehouse management systems.
• Operate forklifts and other material handling equipment safely.
• Read mechanical drawings to identify required materials.
• Support quality inspections for inbound and outbound shipments.
• Process warranty claims and repair cycle assets.
• Restock warehouse and shop floor inventory as needed.
• Compile inventory reports and maintain accurate inventory records.
• Assist with physical inventory counts and warehouse organization.
• Follow all safety procedures and maintain a clean, organized work environment.
• Perform additional warehouse and logistics duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

• High School Diploma, GED, or at least 2 years of relevant warehouse, logistics, or inventory experience .
• Previous experience in shipping, receiving, warehouse, or inventory control.
• Forklift operating experience.
• Ability to perform basic math calculations.
• Experience working in a warehouse or manufacturing environment.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Ability to multitask and work effectively in a team environment.
• Reliable attendance and willingness to work flexible shifts, including overtime when required.
• Basic computer skills and experience using inventory or ERP systems.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Oracle ERP or warehouse management systems.
• Experience in manufacturing, rail, heavy equipment, or industrial environments.
• Knowledge of inventory control, material planning, and warehouse best practices.
• Experience handling Hazmat shipments and shipping documentation.

Physical Requirements

• Stand and walk for extended periods throughout the shift.
• Climb stairs and safely access locomotives when required.
• Work in warehouse and shop environments while wearing required PPE.
• Lift, move, and transport materials as needed.
• Work flexible schedules, including evenings and occasional weekends.
