House of Hope of NC has been serving individuals and families in our community for over 28 years with a passion for Christ-centered, clinically-excellent counseling, whether that is through our residential program for teenage girls or our outpatient counseling center for all ages. Our residential program serves girls ages 12-17 by offering intensive counseling while living and attending school on campus. We also offer outpatient services to children, adolescents, adults, families and/or couples in our community looking to work on individual or marriage/family goals. Job Description: The Family Therapist provides treatment planning and evidence‑based family therapy services to support healthy communication, emotional regulation, and improved family functioning. This role works primarily with families and caregivers to address relational challenges, behavioral concerns, trauma, and environmental stressors impacting the family system in an effort to unite the family back together. Job Responsibilities include but are not limited to: Manage caseload of both residential and outpatient counseling clients although this role is predominately family counseling/parent work. Conduct clinical assessments — Complete clinical evaluations, risk screenings, diagnostic impressions, and strengths‑based assessments to guide treatment planning. Develop collaborative treatment plans — Create measurable goals and objectives with youth, caregivers, and interdisciplinary team members. Conduct quarterly treatment plan review meetings — Organize and facilitate structured review sessions every quarter with clients, families, and interdisciplinary team members. Provide evidence‑based family therapy — Facilitate sessions using modalities such as Structural Family Therapy, CBT, Solution‑Focused Therapy, EMDR or trauma‑informed approaches. Support parent and caregiver coaching through facilitation of the weekly Family Life Training/Parenting Group. Teach communication skills, behavior‑management strategies, and emotional‑regulation techniques to strengthen the home environment. Provide crisis assessment and intervention — Conduct risk assessments, safety planning, and stabilization during acute emotional or behavioral crises as needed. Maintain accurate clinical documentation — Complete progress notes, treatment plans, discharge summaries, and required reports in compliance with agency and payer standards. Participate in interdisciplinary meetings — Attend supervision, case consultations, treatment team meetings, and staff training. Provide psychoeducation — Educate families on communication, conflict resolution, trauma responses, coping skills, and developmental expectations. Promote cultural responsiveness — Deliver services that honor family culture, values, faith practices, and unique strengths. Engage families in treatment — Use motivational strategies to increase participation, reduce barriers, and support consistent follow‑through. Monitor progress — Track outcomes, adjust interventions, and update treatment plans based on client response and emerging needs. Provide intern supervision — Offer structured supervision to counseling or social work interns, including observation, coaching, skill‑building, and professional development support. Complete required evaluations and collaborate with academic programs to support intern growth and competency development. Participate in on-call phone coverage. Qualifications Master’s degree in counseling, social work, marriage and family therapy, psychology, or related field. At least 5 years of experience providing family therapy or working within a family‑systems framework. Knowledge of trauma‑informed care, child development, and evidence‑based interventions. Strong skills in communication, documentation, crisis response, and collaborative practice. Ability to navigate Electronic Health Record (TherapyNotes) Ability to navigate Blue Cross / Blue Shield and other insurance carriers Ability to work with diverse families and maintain cultural humility as well as client boundaries. Preferred Qualifications Training in Structural Family Therapy, Functional Family Therapy, or Trauma‑Focused CBT, EMDR, substance abuse counseling or other therapies. Experience in school‑based, outpatient, or residential treatment settings preferred. Familiarity with DSS, juvenile justice, and multidisciplinary systems. House of Hope is a Christian ministry and requires like-minded Christians for this role Primary work location with office-based at our office in Clayton, NC. Occasionally there are opportunities to participate in telehealth service delivery. Team environment where we all chip in as needed Flexible schedule, primarily M-F, but some weeknights are needed, particularly Tue evening for Family Life Training Group Involves collaboration with therapists, case managers, medical providers, and community partners.
