Job Description & Requirements Specialty: Med Surg / Telemetry Discipline: RN Start Date: 09/28/2026 Duration: 14 weeks 36 hours per week Shift: 12 hours, days Employment Type: Travel Assignment Overview Shift: Days, 3x12hrs Hours: 36 hrs/wk Start Date: Sep 28, 2026 Length: 14 weeks Openings: 1 Description American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Tele position requiring a VA or compact RN license and Epic experience Details 12-bed Med/Surg Tele unit within a teaching hospital setting Patient ratio of 1:4 to 1:5 Cares for patients with respiratory illness, renal disease, diabetes, sepsis, cellulitis, infections, heart failure, sickle cell disease, and cystic fibrosis Day shift schedule, 3x12-hour shifts from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM Option for 36 or 48 hours per week Every other weekend required Must work 2 of the 3 winter holidays Floating required within scope of practice per facility policy Uses Epic EMR Requirements Active VA or compact RN license (pending license accepted, must be in hand by the Wednesday before start date) BLS certification required Minimum 1 year of Med/Surg Tele experience required Epic EMR experience required BSN preferred Prior charge nurse experience preferred Teaching hospital experience preferred Trauma Level I experience preferred Experience with respiratory care, chest tubes (Emerson/PleurEvac), tracheostomy care, cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia management, wound care/wound vac, and IV insulin protocols Additional Information Provide direct patient care including medication administration, PCA and heparin protocol management, and isolation precautions/PPE compliance Interpret and manage cardiac dysrhythmias and respond to cardiac emergencies Manage IV insulin drips and titration for endocrine/metabolic patients Care for genitourinary/renal patients including those with renal failure Maximum of 40 hours RTO allowed per 13-week contract, must be disclosed at time of consideration Any vacation time between sign date and start date must be disclosed to arrange an appropriate start date Longer assignment length available through 01/02/2027 Previous permanent staff or internal/external travelers must have 1-year separation and leadership approval before returning External travelers cannot exceed 365 total assignment days and are not eligible to return after reaching this limit First-time travelers considered for this position American Traveler Job ID P-746966.
