Details 12-bed Med/Surg Tele unit with a 1:4 patient ratio Patient population includes respiratory illness, renal illness, diabetes, sepsis, cellulitis, infections, heart failure, sickle cell, and cystic fibrosis Day shift, 4x12-hour schedule from 7:00 to 19:00 Every other weekend required Must work 2 of the 3 winter holidays Floating required within scope of practice per facility policy Requirements Active VA or compact RN license required (pending license accepted, must be in hand by the Wednesday before start date) BLS certification required Minimum 1 year of RN experience required Epic charting experience required BSN preferred Charge nurse experience preferred Teaching hospital experience preferred Trauma Level I experience preferred Skilled in respiratory care, chest tubes (Emerson/PleurEvac), cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, heparin protocols, PCA, isolation precautions/PPE, wound care/wound vac, and IV insulin protocols/titration Tracheostomy care/management experience preferred Additional Information Provide nursing care for a diverse Med/Surg Tele patient population including cardiac, renal, and endocrine cases Nursys license verification required Two professional references required Maximum 40 hours of RTO allowed per 13-week contract, must be disclosed at time of consideration Any planned vacation between sign date and start date must be disclosed to coordinate an appropriate start date Previous UVA Health employees (permanent staff or internal/external travelers) must disclose prior employment history Former permanent staff or internal travelers require 1-year separation and leadership approval before returning External travelers may not exceed 365 total assignment days at this facility and are ineligible to return once reached First-time travelers are not considered for this role American Traveler Job ID P-746965.
