Details Stepdown unit setting within a teaching hospital environment Cares for cardiac telemetry, PCU/DOU/IMC, and renal patient populations Patient ratio of 1:3 Night shift, 4x12-hour shifts from 19:00-7:00 36 or 48 hour options available Every other weekend and every other holiday required Labor Day weekend off cannot be approved Must adhere to facility float policy and float within scope of practice Epic EMR experience required Requirements Active VA or compact RN license (pending license accepted, must be in hand by the Wednesday before start date) BLS and ACLS certifications required Minimum 1 year of relevant nursing experience required Epic charting system experience required BSN preferred Teaching hospital experience preferred Trauma Level I or II experience preferred Skills in IV therapy, central/arterial line management, blood product administration, and PICC line management Respiratory care skills including BiPAP/CPAP, chest tube, and tracheostomy management Experience with cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation/management, and rapid response protocols Experience with wound care, insulin protocols, and isolation precautions Additional Information Provide direct patient care for stepdown/telemetry patients including cardiac monitoring and emergency response Manage vasoactive and cardiac drips without titration, PCA, and epidural analgesia Perform continuous bladder irrigation and pre/post hemodialysis management for renal patients Support ortho trauma and total joint replacement patients as needed Care for neurological/psychiatric patients including spinal cord injury and traumatic brain injury cases Maximum of 40 hours RTO per 13-week contract, must be disclosed at submission Any vacation time between sign date and start date must be disclosed to determine start date Previous UVA Health permanent staff or traveler employment requires 1-year separation and leadership approval External travelers cannot exceed 365 total assignment days and are not eligible to return after reaching this limit No radius rule applies to this position First-time travelers may be considered American Traveler Job ID P-745954.
