Details 12-bed Med/Surg Tele unit with a 1:4 patient ratio Patient population includes respiratory illness, renal illness, diabetes, sepsis, cellulitis, infections, heart failure, sickle cell disease, and cystic fibrosis Night shift, 4x12-hour shifts from 19:00-07:00 Every other weekend and every other holiday required Floating required within scope of practice per facility float policy Epic EMR experience required Requirements Active VA or compact RN license required (pending license accepted if in hand by the Wednesday before start date) BLS certification required Minimum 1 year of relevant nursing experience required Epic charting experience required BSN preferred Teaching hospital experience preferred Trauma Level I experience preferred Charge nurse experience preferred Skilled in respiratory care, chest tube management (Emerson/PleurEvac), medication administration, heparin protocols, and PCA Skilled in cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management Skilled in isolation precautions/PPE and wound care/wound vac Skilled in IV insulin protocols and insulin drip titration Experience managing renal failure patients Tracheostomy care/management experience preferred Two professional references required Copies of required certifications, driver's license, and Social Security card required for consideration Additional Information Provide direct patient care on a Med/Surg Tele unit, including telemetry monitoring, wound care, and insulin drip management Maximum 40 hours of RTO allowed per 13-week contract, which must be disclosed at time of consideration Any planned vacation between offer acceptance and start date must be disclosed in advance Specialty-specific orientation modules will be completed during onboarding Previous UVA Health permanent staff or internal travelers require a 1-year separation and leadership approval before returning External travelers may not exceed 365 total assignment days at this facility First-time travelers are welcome to apply No radius restriction applies to this unit American Traveler Job ID P-746961.
