Senior Accountant, SOX & Financial Reporting

NOTE: This position will be based full-time in our West Houston, TX office location in CityCentre. POSITION SUMMARY: This position reports to the Sr. Director, SEC Reporting, Technical Accounting & SOX. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, assisting in the identification and build out of ITGC and business process controls associated with our ongoing ERP implementation, followed by maintenance of the Company’s SOX compliance program and leading process improvement initiatives and finally, with assisting in the preparation of 10-Q and 10-K financial statements and footnote disclosures. Essential Duties And Responsibilities Assist with building out the Company’s SOX compliance program associated with our ongoing ERP implementation and act as a central point of contact on the subject matter to ensure appropriate internal controls over financial reporting are designed and implemented. Assist with on-going project management of the SOX program, including interfacing with any 3rd party consultants engaged. Coordinate with the IT team on the ITAC/ITGC testing program. Assist in educating business process control owners by leading training sessions and focus sessions to demonstrate compliance requirements. Possess general knowledge about all financial statements and footnote disclosures required to be included in a Company’s 10-K and 10-Q filings. Experience preparing supporting schedules for SEC filings such as the 10-K, 10-Q, Proxy as well as any earnings materials to be provided to the street. Ability to analyze a Company’s financial statements and provide a narrative for the MD&A as well as fluctuation analysis for the outside auditors and internal management. Minimum Skills, Qualifications and Abilities Education: A minimum of a B.S. degree in Accounting or related business field is required. Candidates with, or pursuing, an advanced degree such as Certified Public Accountant designation or Certified Management Accountant designation, will be given priority consideration. Experience: Minimum of at least five years in an accounting related field, where three of those years are within a SOX compliant accounting organization and two years are with a public accounting firm. The following skills and abilities are required: Demonstrated proficiency identifying and driving process improvement initiatives Microsoft Dynamics SL, Oracle or other ERP system experience in a SOX environment Advanced working knowledge of Microsoft Excel Must be able to analyze operational results and produce work with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail. Must have strong written and verbal communication skills and a proven ability to work successfully on cross‑functional teams Industry Requirements: Eligible to work under Department of Energy 10 CFR Part 810. Physical Demands Ability to understand and communicate clearly using a phone, personal interaction, and computers. Ability to learn new job functions and comprehend and understand new concepts quickly and apply them accurately in a rapidly evolving environment. Pay And Benefits The target pay range for this position is $111,105 - $134,093 annually. The full pay range is $99,611 - $155,803 annually.
