Crisis Clinician I (Safe Harbor Behavioral Health)

UPMC Western Behavioral Health at Safe Harbor is excited to welcome a passionate and driven  Crisis Clinician I  to our Crisis Intervention team!

Our Crisis Intervention team is a close-knit group providing 24/7 support through crisis phone services, the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline, mobile response, and walk-in assessments. Under the guidance of the Crisis Clinician Supervisor, you'll deliver compassionate crisis counseling, de-escalation, clinical assessments, and service coordination for individuals of all ages experiencing a self-identified crisis. Crisis Clinicians work alongside a Shift Supervisor each shift, answering crisis calls and meeting with adults and children throughout the community to provide assessment, support, and connections to needed resources. Additional consultation and support are available from the Clinician Supervisor, Director, and after-hours Administrator on Call (AOC).

Key Information: 

• Schedule : Will vary between daylight (8a-6p), Evening (2p-12a) and Swing Shift (11a-9p), depending on staffing needs. Four, 10-hour shifts per week. Schedule will be mapped in 6-week blocks. 

• Location : 2560 West 12th Street, Erie, PA. 

• Dress Code : Business casual.

Responsibilities:
 

• Provide crisis services in community & office settings, including assessments, counseling and crisis planning. 
• Manage crisis situations independently using positive approaches and motivational interviewing techniques. 
• Complete consumer & family crisis assessments (face-to-face and by phone) and provide follow-up via phone or mobile visits. 
• Support consumers by promoting stability, coordinating referrals, and negotiating appropriate services. 

• Maintain accurate documentation, complete required paperwork, and navigate insurance processes and authorizations. 

   

• Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology, Counseling or Social Work WITH one year mental health direct care experience 
• OR Master’s Degree in Psychology, Counseling or Social Work and no experience. 
• Other fields of study may be considered with coursework of at least 12 credits in human services and/or relevant mental health experience
• Experience in phone triaging, as well as an in-depth knowledge and proven skill at doing psychiatric assessments. 
• Experience in mental health crisis intervention, case management, or in-home therapy preferred. 
• Excellent, recovery-oriented interpersonal relations
