Job Description\n American Traveler is seeking a travel nurse RN Float Med Surg for a travel nursing job in Normal, Illinois.Job Description & Requirements\n \n Specialty: Float\n Discipline: RN\n Start Date: 10/05/2026\n Duration: 13 weeks\n 36 hours per week\n Shift: 12 hours, nights\n Employment Type: Travel\n \n Assignment Overview\n \n Shift: Nights, 3x12hrs\n Hours: 36 hrs/wk\n Start Date: Oct 5, 2026\n Length: 13 weeks\n Openings: 1\n Description\n American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Float Pool position requiring EPIC charting experience and the ability to float across multiple inpatient units and facilities.Details\n \n Clinical Resource Unit (float pool) providing care across Medical-Oncology, Surgical-Orthopedic, Cardiovascular Care, Progressive Care, Mental Health, and Acute Rehab units\n Cares for diverse patient populations including acute and chronically ill cardiac and pulmonary patients\n Manages diagnoses such as coronary artery disease, angina, myocardial infarction, dysrhythmia, syncope, CHF, stroke, cancer, cellulitis, and post-surgical patients\n Night shift schedule, 7:00PM-7:30AM, 3x12-hour shifts per week (36 hours/week)\n Rotating weekend and holiday coverage required\n May float to additional facilities including Carle Health Methodist Hospital, Young Minds, Carle Health Pekin Hospital, and Carle Health Proctor Hospital\n Uses EPIC EMR for documentation\n Requirements\n \n Active IL RN license (temporary license accepted)\n BLS certification (AHA) required\n College diploma or degree in nursing required\n Minimum one year of relevant nursing experience required\n EPIC charting experience required\n Level 1 Trauma experience required\n Skilled in IV venipuncture, blood administration, medication administration, and post-operative care\n Strong critical thinking and interdisciplinary collaboration skills\n Additional Information\n \n Delegates and validates completion of care tasks assigned to healthcare team members\n Performs patient assessments, care planning, admission/discharge processes, and hourly rounding\n Administers medications following the 5 Rights of medication administration\n Maintains patient safety standards including fall precautions, pressure ulcer prevention, and ambulation safety\n Conducts bedside shift reports and maintains patient communication boards\n Educates patients and families on care plans and discharge instructions\n Collaborates with interdisciplinary teams to coordinate patient care\n Must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to qualify; local candidates not accepted\n RTO limited to a maximum of 7 days per 13-week contract\n Contingent workers may not remain on assignment longer than 1 year without a 6-month break in service before returning\n \n \n American Traveler Job ID #P-756160.
