Maintenance Technician

SUMMARY: The Facilities Maintenance Technician performs work of routine difficulty related to equipment, building maintenance and construction; performs related work as assigned. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Performs typical maintenance tasks to support the assembly floor and the entire facility as directed by department manager. 2. Detects and reports defective materials or questionable conditions to the department manager. 3. Maintains work area and respective equipment in a clean and orderly condition and follows prescribed safety regulations. 4. Performs prescribed preventative maintenance on machinery and the building or grounds as directed. 5. Present a professional tone and image at all times to customers and vendors. 6. Responsible for the timely and accurate reporting for all required department documentation. 7. Maintain housekeeping excellence in accordance with Golden Broom Program. 8. Participates in scheduled training classes on site or off site as required. 9. Perform other duties as assigned. EDUCATION AND RELATED WORK EXPERIENCE: \u2022 High school or technical school education and 3 years of factory related experience in a maintenance environment. \u2022 General safety, lockout/tagout, HAZMAT, forklift safety, electrostatic discharge awareness, foreign object damage awareness, and quality system awareness. \u2022 Prior work experience in a manufacturing facility. LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS or CERTIFICATIONS: \u2022 Criminal background and drug screen check required for hire. \u2022 Forklift License. TECHNICAL SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE & ABILITIES: \u2022 Must be able to perform but not limited to the following skills: carpentry, plumbing, masonry, electrical (assist the facilities electrician), machine repair, plant layout, painting, and janitorial. Facilities Maintenance Representative, WestRock 06142013 \u2022 Required to be familiar with and use all hand tools and power tools common to the skills listed and be well versed in the disciplines mentioned above. \u2022 Must be able to read and interpret drawings, sketches, O.E.M. instructions and specifications. \u2022 Must feel comfortable with working in a team environment consisting of facility team members and outside contractors. \u2022 Required to use considerable judgment when performing and planning to perform his/her tasks. \u2022 Ability to effectively manage time. MATERIALS AND EQUIPMENT OPERATING KNOWLEDGE: \u2022 Operating knowledge of and experience with personal computers and peripherals. \u2022 Safety Glasses required while performing certain tasks. \u2022 Exposed to a combination of normal office type environments, and shop floor environments. \u2022 Regularly exposed to dust, odors, oil, fumes and noise. \u2022 Operating knowledge of and experience with Microsoft Office Suite. \u2022 Operating knowledge of and experience with typical office equipment, such as telephones, copier, fax machine, E-mail, etc.
