Immediate opening for an SMT Supervisor in Brea, CA who possesses:

• 3+ years of recent SMT supervisory or lead experience within a PCBA manufacturing environment
• Experience supervising SMT operators, setup technicians, inspectors, and support personnel
• Strong working knowledge of SMT placement equipment, screen printers, reflow ovens, SPI, AOI, feeder setup, and changeovers
• Experience driving production schedules and meeting customer delivery commitments
• Knowledge of IPC-A-610 and electronics manufacturing quality requirements
• Experience working within an ISO 9001, AS9100, ISO 13485, or similarly regulated manufacturing environment

FULL DESCRIPTION: We are seeking an experienced SMT Supervisor to lead first-shift SMT production within a fast-paced PCBA/EMS manufacturing environment. This role will oversee SMT operators, setup technicians, inspectors, and support personnel while driving daily production schedules, maintaining quality requirements, managing employee performance, and ensuring smooth operation of SMT lines. The ideal candidate will have recent hands-on SMT leadership experience, strong knowledge of placement equipment and related processes, and the ability to work cross-functionally with Engineering, Quality, Materials, and Production Planning.

The selected candidate will be responsible for:

• Supervising daily first-shift SMT production operations
• Leading SMT operators, setup technicians, inspectors, and support personnel
• Driving production schedules and prioritizing work orders based on customer commitments and manufacturing requirements
• Ensuring SMT lines are properly staffed and supported throughout the shift
• Monitoring production progress and escalating risks that may impact schedule attainment
• Supporting operation of SMT placement equipment, screen printers, reflow ovens, SPI systems, and AOI equipment
• Overseeing feeder setup, material changeovers, and production transitions
• Supporting high-mix, low-to-medium-volume PCBA manufacturing operations
• Ensuring employees follow applicable work instructions, manufacturing travelers, engineering documentation, and quality requirements
• Supporting compliance with IPC-A-610, J-STD-001, and applicable customer quality requirements
• Partnering with Quality and inspection personnel to address defects, workmanship concerns, and process issues
• Partnering with Engineering to resolve equipment, process, and production challenges
• Working closely with Materials and Production Planning to maintain production flow and material availability
• Monitoring production metrics including throughput, yield, scrap, schedule attainment, labor efficiency, and related KPIs
• Supporting OEE and equipment utilization improvement efforts
• Identifying production bottlenecks and helping implement corrective actions
• Supporting Lean Manufacturing, 5S, and continuous improvement initiatives
• Managing employee attendance and shift coverage
• Providing coaching, feedback, and performance management to assigned employees
• Addressing disciplinary issues in accordance with company policies and procedures
• Training and supporting employees on production expectations and manufacturing processes
• Maintaining clear communication across shifts and departments
• Supporting onboarding and development of new employees and temporary staff
• Promoting a safe, organized, and productive manufacturing environment
• Ensuring employees follow applicable safety, quality, ESD, and production procedures
• Performing other supervisory and production-related duties as assigned

The selected candidate will also possess:

• 3+ years of recent SMT supervisory or lead experience required
• PCBA manufacturing experience required
• EMS or contract manufacturing experience strongly preferred
• Experience supervising SMT operators, setup technicians, inspectors, and support personnel required
• Strong knowledge of SMT placement equipment required
• Experience with screen printing processes required
• Experience with reflow oven processes required
• Experience with SPI processes required
• Experience with AOI processes required
• Experience with feeder setup and production changeovers required
• Experience supporting high-mix, low-to-medium-volume electronics manufacturing preferred
• Experience with Fuji, Yamaha, ASM, Panasonic, Juki, or similar SMT equipment preferred
• Ability to read and manage production schedules required
• Experience prioritizing work orders and meeting customer delivery commitments required
• Knowledge of IPC-A-610 standards preferred
• Knowledge of J-STD-001 and electronics manufacturing quality requirements preferred
• Experience within an ISO 9001, AS9100, ISO 13485, or similarly regulated manufacturing environment required
• 3+ years of regulated manufacturing experience preferred
• Experience managing employee attendance and performance required
• Experience providing coaching and handling disciplinary issues required
• Experience monitoring production KPIs such as throughput, yield, scrap, OEE, schedule attainment, and labor efficiency preferred
• Lean Manufacturing, 5S, or continuous improvement experience preferred
• Strong leadership and people-management skills required
• Strong written and verbal communication skills required
• Ability to work effectively with Engineering, Quality, Materials, Production Planning, and Operations
• Strong organizational and problem-solving skills required
• Ability to make timely decisions within a fast-paced manufacturing environment
• Ability to manage multiple production priorities simultaneously
• Ability to successfully complete required pre-employment background and drug screening
• Ability to work onsite in Brea, CA
• Ability to work first shift from 6:00 AM to 2:30 PM
• Ability to support a temp-to-hire opportunity

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to stand and walk throughout SMT, inspection, and production areas for extended periods
• Ability to move regularly between production lines, workstations, inspection areas, and manufacturing support departments
• Ability to occasionally sit and work at a computer while reviewing schedules, production metrics, employee records, quality documentation, and manufacturing systems
• Ability to use hands and fingers for computer work, production documentation, equipment interaction, and standard supervisory tasks
• Ability to visually monitor SMT equipment, PCBA production activity, workmanship, and manufacturing processes
• Ability to review production schedules, work orders, engineering documentation, quality records, reports, and computer screens for extended periods
• Ability to occasionally bend, reach, stoop, and move throughout manufacturing areas as needed
• Ability to work around SMT placement equipment, screen printers, reflow ovens, AOI systems, production machinery, and normal manufacturing activity
• Ability to work in an electronics manufacturing environment with normal production noise and equipment activity
• Ability to wear required PPE and follow applicable ESD, manufacturing, quality, and safety procedures
• Ability to maintain focus, sound judgment, and attention to detail while overseeing multiple production priorities and employees

Salary Range: $75,000 to $95,000/year
