The Role We’re looking for a Scientist to join our Biophysics team and help drive programs focused on challenging protein‑protein interaction (PPI) drug targets. In this role, you’ll design, execute, and interpret biophysical experiments interdependently and with guidance of project leaders that support hit identification, mechanism‑of‑action studies, and lead optimization efforts. You’ll work closely with Medicinal Chemistry and cross‑functional research teams to generate data that helps guide project decisions and compound progression. You’ll apply techniques such as SPR, DSF/TSA, and complementary biophysical methods to characterize small‑molecule interactions and develop a deeper understanding of target engagement and binding behavior. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys scientific problem‑solving, experimental design, and working in a startup environment where ideas can quickly turn into action. Key Responsibilities Design and execute biophysical experiments to support hit discovery and lead optimization efforts Characterize small molecule interactions using SPR (Biacore), DSF/TSA, and other biophysical methods Analyze and interpret complex datasets to guide medicinal chemistry and project strategy Collaborate closely with Chemistry and Biology teams to support SAR cycles and program progression Contribute to assay development, troubleshooting, and optimization efforts Maintain accurate experimental documentation and data analysis within an ELN environment Present scientific findings and recommendations to cross‑functional teams Mentor junior scientists or research associates as needed Required Qualifications Ph.D. in Biophysics, Biochemistry, Chemical Biology, or related scientific discipline, or M.S./B.S. with significant industry experience Demonstrated experience with SPR, DSF/TSA, and small molecule characterization workflows Experience supporting drug discovery programs in a biotech or pharmaceutical setting Strong understanding of biophysical assay development and data interpretation Familiarity with software tools such as Biacore Insight and Protein Thermal Shift Proven ability to independently troubleshoot technical and experimental challenges Preferred Qualifications Experience with fragment‑based lead discovery (FBLD) Experience with additional biophysical methods such as BLI, ITC, NMR, or MST Experience with biochemical assays, including TR‑FRET and fluorescence polarization Familiarity with automation platforms and high‑throughput workflows Prior experience contributing to cross‑functional drug discovery teams What We’re Looking For Strong scientific reasoning and experimental design skills Clear written and verbal communication skills Ability to think critically about data and make thoughtful recommendations Collaborative mindset and willingness to contribute across teams Ability to manage competing priorities in a dynamic startup environment Interest in mentoring and helping build a strong scientific culture Salary range: $120,000 – $150,000 Equity opportunity available Medical, dental, and vision coverage Paid time off and company holidays Opportunity to contribute directly to scientific strategy and company growth #J-18808-Ljbffr PPI Therapeutics
