About the Role

We are looking for an experienced Senior Accountant to take ownership of the day-to-day accounting function at IFS.

This is a hands-on role for someone who can manage the full accounting cycle while understanding what is happening operationally in the business. You will be responsible for maintaining accurate financials, managing month-end close, supporting AP and AR, overseeing job costing and WIP, maintaining cash visibility, and providing leadership with reliable financial information.

Because IFS is a project and service-based business, strong job-costing experience is important. The right person will be comfortable working independently, partnering directly with operations, and managing competing priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

What You'll Do

• Own the full accounting cycle, including general ledger activity, journal entries, reconciliations, and month-end and year-end close.
• Maintain accurate job costing across labor, materials, equipment, subcontractors, and other project costs.
• Prepare and review WIP schedules and identify billing gaps, cost overruns, and margin risks.
• Manage and continually improve AP and AR processes, including vendor payments, customer billing, collections, and aging.
• Maintain visibility into cash position, upcoming obligations, and expected receipts.
• Prepare recurring financial and management reporting, including P&L, balance sheet, cash, AR/AP aging, job profitability, and WIP.
• Partner with operations and project teams to ensure completed work, costs, quotes, NTEs, and customer billings are accurately reflected in the financials.
• Coordinate payroll and labor-cost allocations to ensure costs are recorded accurately by job and in the general ledger.
• Maintain strong accounting controls, documentation, and audit-ready records.
• Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, reporting, systems, and data quality.
• Translate financial results into practical insights for operational and business leaders.
• Support special projects and shared-services initiatives across the broader organization.
• Work collaboratively with accounting leadership while independently owning IFS's day-to-day accounting needs.

What We're Looking For

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred.
• 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, ideally including Senior Accountant-level responsibilities.
• Experience in construction, facilities services, field services, or another project-based environment strongly preferred.
• Strong understanding of job costing and WIP accounting.
• Working knowledge of U.S. GAAP.
• Experience managing month-end close, reconciliations, AP/AR, and financial reporting.
• Advanced Excel skills.
• Experience with accounting systems such as QuickBooks, Xero, NetSuite, or similar platforms.
• Ability to learn and work across operational and work-order systems.
• Strong organization, follow-through, and attention to detail.
• Clear communication skills and the ability to work effectively with accounting, operations, and leadership teams.
• Ability to work independently, prioritize competing needs, and meet deadlines without sacrificing accuracy.
• Must be based on Oahu and available for on-site work as business needs require.

CPA or CPA candidacy is a plus, but not required.

What Success Looks Like

You will be successful in this role when month-end closes on schedule, accounts are reconciled and reliable, job costs and WIP reflect operational reality, billing stays current, and leadership has accurate financial information without having to chase down the numbers.

We are looking for someone who brings ownership to the role, spots issues early, and helps create accounting processes that can scale with the business.

Work Arrangement

This is a hybrid position based on Oahu, with a mix of remote work and work from IFS and affiliated company locations based on business needs.

Candidates must have reliable home internet and a secure workspace for remote work, dependable transportation to Oahu work locations, and availability for scheduled close, billing, and leadership meetings.

Occasional travel to neighboring islands may be required.
