Credit & Collections Specialist

Job Type Full-time Role Overview The Credit and Collections Specialist will contact clients to collect outstanding payments. The position requires a balance between maintaining trustful relationships and ensuring timely payments. The Specialist should exhibit professionalism, trustworthiness, and strong independent communication skills. Responsibilities Collect past‑due customer balances through telephone calls, emails, and other professional means. Work with customers to arrange payment while maintaining goodwill. Coordinate with internal departments to reduce accounts receivable aging. Monitor and maintain assigned past‑due accounts, including handling customer calls, account adjustments, reconciliations, and credit memos. Review daily credit holds to ensure proper control of credit risk and work to reduce holds. Set up and maintain customer and vendor accounts within the ERP system. Process new customer credit applications, research financial condition, obtain trade references, and obtain credit reports to determine credit risk. Complete credit applications and forms requested by customers and vendors. Research and respond promptly to customer inquiries and assist with account reconciliation. Perform other duties as assigned. Requirements High school diploma or GED with three or more years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Minimum of three years of experience in accounting or finance. Computer literacy and proficiency with MS Office 365. Knowledge of basic accounting procedures and practices. Understanding of company structures such as sole proprietorship, partnership, LLC, and corporation. Familiarity with credit policies and procedures. Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines. Analytical and problem‑solving abilities with attention to detail. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Collaboration skills for a team environment. Detail‑oriented work style capable of juggling multiple priorities. Physical requirements: sitting, standing, walking, lifting, carrying, reaching, pushing, and pulling. Ability to pass a background check, MVR check, and drug test.
