Founding AI/ML Engineer

A7 Labs is building an AI powered operating system for remote work. We started by creating Remote.io, a job board connecting professionals with remote opportunities, and are now transforming it into an intelligent platform that understands what companies need and what professionals are looking for, and matches them automatically.Our new platform is being built from the ground up, and we're looking for a founding AI/ML engineer to own the intelligence layer that will set us apart. The role You'll be the first dedicated AI/ML hire, working alongside the CTO and founding team to design and build the AI capabilities that power the platform. Think intelligent matching, talent scoring, content generation, semantic search, and recommendation systems. This is not a research role. You'll be building production systems that directly impact users from day one.You'll join once the new platform has a solid foundation, giving you a real product to build on. This is a founding role with equity and the opportunity to shape the AI strategy from scratch. What you'll do Design and build AI powered features: intelligent job/talent matching, semantic search, recommendation engines, and automated content generation. Develop and fine tune models tailored to our domain, including custom LLM applications and NLP pipelines. Build and maintain MLOps infrastructure: model training, evaluation, deployment, monitoring, and iteration. Work with the CTO to integrate AI capabilities into the platform architecture cleanly and scalably. Evaluate and select the right tools, frameworks, and third party AI services (APIs, embeddings, vector databases) for each use case. Establish best practices for data pipelines, feature engineering, and model versioning. Collaborate closely with product and engineering to translate user needs into AI driven solutions. Must have Production ML experience: You've built and deployed models that serve real users, not just notebooks and prototypes. NLP and LLM expertise: Strong understanding of natural language processing, transformer architectures, and working with LLMs (fine tuning, prompt engineering, RAG). MLOps proficiency: Experience with model deployment, monitoring, CI/CD for ML, and tools like MLflow, Weights & Biases, or similar. Python and data engineering: Solid Python skills and experience with data pipelines, feature stores, and working with structured and unstructured data at scale. Cloud infrastructure: Comfortable working with AWS (SageMaker, Lambda, S3) or equivalent cloud ML services. Builder mindset: You're pragmatic. You pick the simplest solution that works and iterate from there, whether that's a fine tuned model or a well designed API call. Long term commitment: You're looking for a founding role, not a side project. You want to own the AI layer of a product that millions of people will use. Bonus Experience with recruitment tech, marketplaces, or matching/recommendation systems. Background in vector databases (Pinecone, Weaviate, Qdrant) and semantic search. Previous startup founding or early stage experience. Full stack development skills to prototype and ship independently. Own the entire AI/ML strategy and roadmap from day one. Meaningful equity as a founding team member. Profit sharing agreement from day one. Work on real problems where AI makes a measurable difference, not AI for the sake of AI.
