Associate Counsel

Associate – Legal Operations / Document Control Boston, MA | Hybrid (3 days in office) A leading global alternative investment firm with a major presence in Boston is seeking an Associate to join its Legal Affairs / Capital Markets Legal team in a Document Control capacity. This role sits at the center of the firm’s legal document execution process, supporting investment professionals, legal teams, and external counterparties by ensuring transaction documents are properly reviewed, executed, and maintained within the firm’s document management systems. The role provides exposure to legal workflows supporting credit and investment transactions within a global alternative investment platform. Responsibilities Review incoming legal and transaction documents to ensure accuracy and completeness prior to execution Coordinate the document execution process, including collecting signatures and distributing finalized documentation Maintain organized records within the firm’s document warehouse and document management systems Coordinate access to deal data rooms and support document sharing for new transactions Act as a central point of contact for document-related requests from internal teams and external counterparties Route external inquiries and documentation to appropriate internal stakeholders Support ongoing improvements to document control procedures and workflow processes Maintain strict confidentiality when handling sensitive legal and transaction materials Qualifications 5+ years of experience in legal operations, document control, compliance, paralegal, or legal support roles Experience within investment banking, asset management, financial services, or a law firm is strongly preferred Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook) Experience with document management tools, DocuSign, or Adobe Acrobat is helpful Ability to review and organize complex legal documentation with a high degree of accuracy Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities under deadlines Excellent communication and interpersonal skills What the Firm Offers Exposure to a leading global investment platform and sophisticated deal activity Highly collaborative legal and investment team environment Clear opportunities for internal growth and development Hybrid work structure (Boston office) Competitive compensation including base salary, bonus, and profit sharing Comprehensive benefits package and strong retirement contributions Expected base salary: $70,000 – $80,000 plus annual bonus and profit sharing (bringing total first-year compensation into the ~$90K–$100K range).
