The Operations Supervisor will lead drivers and support staff to meet customer requirements and Penske Logistics goals while ensuring efficient transportation and logistics operations. Position Summary Provide operational leadership to individual contributors and hourly workforce, ensuring the execution of daily tasks—including driver deliveries, trailer loading/unloading, and customer service operations—while maintaining cost objectives and safety compliance. Oversee performance management, disciplinary actions, hiring, and employee engagement. Opportunity Details Schedule: Monday – Friday; 2:00 PM – 12:00 AM (hours vary with business needs) Experience: Transportation management background, strong communication, goal orientation, detail orientation, and leadership skills. Major Responsibilities People Ensure supervisors and associates are trained, competent, and aligned with customer business objectives. Communicate clear, measurable performance standards. Interview hourly associates and recommend hires. Monitor attendance, productivity, and provide coaching or counseling. Motivate and engage associates through teamwork and recognition. Operations Supervise logistics operations, including customer service, freight loading/unloading, dispatch, and documentation control. Conduct team meetings and recommend workflow improvements. Provide relief coverage when associates are absent. Maintain operational compliance and resolve exceptions. Complete all required records and reports accurately and on time. Finance Adhere to financial policies (e.g., tracking MPG, returns, damages). Understand profitability relationships to decision‑making. Manage associates’ hours to minimize overtime and meet productivity targets. Safety Align day‑to‑day activities with the location safety strategy. Provide training, feedback, and direction for safe performance. Ensure compliance with regulatory agencies and company policies. Conduct safety observations. Growth / Customer Experience Meet and exceed location‑specific customer goals and objectives. Show commitment to helping customers achieve their objectives. Identify continuous improvement opportunities. Fleet / Assets Plan work assignments to use fleet equipment effectively. Ensure associates understand safe and efficient equipment operation. Coordinate with vendors to maintain equipment. Work with Penske Truck Leasing on preventive maintenance schedules. Execute additional projects as assigned by supervisor. Job Qualifications Demonstrated leadership, strong interpersonal skills, and ability to build rapport with associates, leadership, internal and external customers. Efficient independent worker with strong time‑management and organizational skills. Strong written and oral communication; active listening. Ability to solve problems, think critically, and make independent decisions. Experience driving process improvement and leading change. Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint). Ownership and urgency to run the operation. High School Diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor’s degree preferred. Full, regular, predictable attendance is essential. Willingness to travel as necessary and work at the specified location. Must complete Penske employment application, background investigation, and drug screening. Physical Requirements Read, communicate verbally and/or in written form, and understand instructions. Stand, walk, sit, use hands for handling, and occasionally lift up to 25 lb (12 kg). Require close, distance, peripheral, and depth vision, and ability to adjust focus.
