Based in Skippack, PA, this role is responsible for the weekly processing and documentation of payroll. The ideal candidate is comfortable with and able to maintain confidentiality, professional, motivated, learns quickly, and pays close attention to detail. Why work for H&K Group, Inc.? - Competitive salary commensurate with experience - 100% Company-paid Health Benefits - 401(k) Savings and Investment Plan - Tuition reimbursement programs available to qualifying employees for approved programs - Additional training opportunities including on the job, online through the H&K Academy, manufacturer offered training, and more Responsibilities Essential Duties and Responsibilities - Perform all work according to OSHA, MSHA, and H&K Safety policiesPayroll - Compiles payroll data such as hours worked, taxes, insurance, and union dues to be withheld, and employee identification numbers from time sheets and other records and enters data into computer files - Reviews wages computed and corrects errors to ensure accuracy of payroll - Records changes affecting net wages such as exemptions for each employee to update master payroll records - Records data concerning transfer of employees between departments - Prepares periodic unemployment reports and employment verification forms - Keeps records of leave, vacation pay, and nontaxable wages - Prepares and issues paychecks - Performs other duties as assigned Qualifications Required Skills, Education, and Experience - High school diploma or equivalent (such as the GED) from an accredited educational institution OR five years of related experience and/or training - A combination of education and experience may be considered - Related experience and/or training in payroll - Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Access, Outlook) - Demonstrated professionalism and ability to maintain confidentiality - Demonstrated attention to detail and timeliness of deadlines - Demonstrated interpersonal skills when communicating with subcontractor representatives, customers, co-workers, ownership, and/or incoming telephone calls - Demonstrated use of time efficiently & remains flexible with frequent changes, delays, unexpected events, and/or changes in priority as well as many project-specific details - Demonstrated accuracy and thoroughness; monitors own work to ensure quality - Ability to fit test & utilize appropriate PPE as needed - Ability to meet physical requirements (movement, lifting, as relevant to job) Preferred Skills, Education, and Experience - Five years of related experience and/or training in areas such as bookkeeping and payroll - OSHA or other relevant safety certificates - Relevant experience within heavy civil and highway construction, heavy industry/manufacturing, or mining Physical Demands - Frequently required to - Sit - Talk and hear - Occasionally required to - Stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl - Reach with hands and arms - Lift and/or move up to 25 pounds - Specific vision requirements include - Close - Distance - Color - Peripheral - Depth perception - Ability to adjust focus Work Environment - Noise level is usually moderate The H&K Group, Inc. provides complete heavy civil contracting and construction materials solutions with safety, speed, quality, efficiency, and value.
