Data Center Technician

Key Responsibilities Perform server rack installations, hardware break‑fix, troubleshoot network issues, and respond to operational incidents that impact service availability, escalating to senior technicians and management as needed. Serve as the primary contact point for internal and external stakeholders, including engineers, software developers, vendors, and contractors. Perform on‑call duties and participate in scheduled maintenance and change management activities. Contribute to documentation and process improvement initiatives based on analysis of operational issues. Help train and onboard new team members. Work independently and with a team, prioritizing tasks, communicating effectively, and reacting quickly. Travel within and outside the regional work area as required; possess a reliable personal vehicle and a valid driver’s license. Work 24/7, including nights, weekends, and holidays; shift work may include days, nights, weekends, and holidays. Physical Requirements Regularly lift or move up to 40 pounds; participate in group lifts for 41+ pounds. Work in cramped and/or elevated locations; bend, lift, stretch, and reach as required. Stand and walk up to 8+ hours a day; ascend/descend ladders, stairs, and gangways safely. Work in a noisy environment and on shifts longer than 8 hours to support 24/7 operations. Essential Requirements Ability to travel to or commute between data center locations as needed (over 50 miles), with reliable personal vehicle and valid driver’s license. Willingness to temporarily work at alternative sites during training periods or until the assigned facility is operational. Travel frequency will vary based on business needs and operational status of the assigned facility. Basic Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent. 1+ year(s) of computer/server hardware troubleshooting or related IT experience. Ability to work on a flexible schedule, including days, nights, and/or weekends. Preferred Qualifications Experience working in a data center environment. Associate’s degree, technical certification, or equivalent professional or military experience in a relevant field (e.g., computer science, networking engineering). Understanding of network design, protocols, and layer 1/2 troubleshooting. Experience managing work and priorities through a ticketing system. Additional Information Amazon does not sponsor immigration for this role. A lump sum stipend will be provided to eligible candidates who relocate.
