Accountant

This position will be responsible for general accounting functions including recording financial transactions, preparing reconciliations, and maintaining balance sheet schedules in accordance with GAAP. Location: This role is located in Midtown - Sacramento, CA (95811). This role allows a hybrid schedule requiring 2-3 days per week on site. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Prepare accurate and timely journal entries during the monthly close process in accordance with GAAP, ensuring integrity of the general ledger. Perform monthly bank reconciliations and investigate discrepancies to ensure accuracy of cash balances. Conduct balance sheet and income statement account reconciliations, analyzing variances and resolving discrepancies. Assist in the preparation of monthly financial statements and support schedules for management reporting. Support month-end and year-end close activities, ensuring deadlines and reporting requirements are met. Provide documentation and analysis to support external financial and tax audits, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards. Assist with the preparation of corporate tax returns and maintain compliance with federal and state reporting requirements. Participate in the development of operating and capital budgets, supporting financial planning and forecasting efforts. Draft, maintain, and distribute finance policies and procedures to ensure consistency and adherence to internal controls. ADDITIONAL DUTIES Compile, analyze, and report financial data for internal management and external reporting purposes. Support special projects, process improvements, and ad hoc financial analysis as assigned. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS Three to five years of accounting experience, preferably in nonprofit, government, or healthcare settings. Strong Excel skills,including data analysis and financial modeling. Knowledge of GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) Proven experience in account reconciliations and strong analytical skills for reviewing financial data and identifying discrepancies. PREFERRED BACKGROUND Familiarity with nonprofit, government, or healthcare accounting environments and related financial practices. Experience with general ledger accounting, financial reporting, and account reconciliations. Demonstrated strong analytical skills with the ability to review financial data, identify discrepancies, and support accurate financial reporting. Understanding of month-end and year-end close processes, including preparation of supporting schedules and documentation. Ability to collaborate effectively across a broad spectrum of backgrounds and perspectives.
