VP/Director of Finance

We are looking for an accomplished finance leader to support a mission-driven global nonprofit in Washington, District of Columbia. This Long-term Contract position calls for someone who can guide financial strategy while remaining closely engaged in daily operations and decision-making. The ideal candidate brings deep experience in large nonprofit environments, with particular strength in planning, revenue accounting, grant oversight, and forward-looking financial management. Exposure to international operations and nonprofit financial leadership credentials would be valuable in this role.Responsibilities:• Direct financial planning activities, including budgeting cycles, multi-scenario forecasting, and performance analysis that supports organizational decision-making.• Oversee revenue recognition practices to ensure financial reporting is accurate, timely, and aligned with applicable accounting standards.• Lead grant-related financial management by monitoring restricted funding, preparing reports for funders, and supporting compliance requirements.• Provide hands-on leadership across day-to-day finance operations while also advising executive stakeholders on strategic financial matters.• Develop and refine annual and periodic forecasts to help leadership assess risks, opportunities, and resource allocation priorities.• Partner with internal teams to translate programmatic and funding activity into clear financial insights and actionable recommendations.• Strengthen financial controls, reporting processes, and operational discipline across a complex nonprofit environment.• Support selected organizational finance functions beyond core planning and reporting needs, based on business priorities and team capacity.
