Our client is a growing, private equity-backed organization with a portfolio of multiple operating businesses . They are seeking an experienced Accounting Manager to oversee accounting operations, financial reporting, controls, and month-end close activities across multiple entities.


This is an excellent opportunity for an accounting professional who enjoys working in a multi-entity environment and can take ownership of the close process, while also leading an accounting team and partnering with operational leadership across several businesses.


The ideal candidate will have strong technical accounting and general ledger experience, a proven ability to manage multiple company/entity month-end closes simultaneously , and the leadership skills to drive accuracy, efficiency, and continuous process improvement.


OVERVIEW OF THE ACCOUNTING MANAGER ROLE:

• Lead and manage the month-end close process across multiple entities/businesses , ensuring all companies close accurately and within established reporting deadlines.
• Establish and maintain close calendars, deadlines, and processes to ensure timely completion of all month-end activities.
• Oversee general ledger activity, journal entries, trial balances, account reconciliations, and financial reporting across multiple entities.
• Review financial results and investigate unusual variances, fluctuations, and trends to explain monthly performance.
• Prepare and review monthly financial reporting packages and management analyses.
• Review account reconciliations and work with accounting staff to research and resolve outstanding or unexplained reconciling items.
• Calculate and review judgmental accounting estimates and reserves, including inventory reserves, bad debt allowances, and other accruals .
• Lead and develop an accounting team responsible for general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and other accounting functions supporting multiple businesses.
• Maintain strong internal controls and accounting policies designed to safeguard company assets, mitigate risk, and ensure financial reporting accuracy.
• Ensure compliance with GAAP and applicable accounting, tax, and regulatory requirements.
• Research technical accounting matters and provide guidance on appropriate accounting treatment.
• Oversee accounts receivable processes, including collections, cash application, customer account review, and creditworthiness assessments.
• Oversee accounts payable processes, including invoice processing, approvals, cash disbursements, and resolution of vendor inquiries.
• Support annual financial statement audits and provide requested schedules, documentation, and analysis.
• Partner with operational teams to develop a thorough understanding of business processes, transactions, and accounting controls across each entity.
• Analyze production and cost information and investigate cost variances to support improved operational and financial performance.
• Identify opportunities to streamline accounting processes, improve controls, increase efficiency, and strengthen reporting.
• Assist with special projects, acquisitions, integrations, and other initiatives as the organization continues to grow.

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• 5-10+ years of progressive accounting experience, with experience managing or leading an accounting team.
• Proven experience managing month-end close for multiple entities, companies, or business units.
• Strong understanding of general ledger accounting, reconciliations, journal entries, financial reporting, and internal controls.
• Experience working in a multi-entity or multi-company environment is highly preferred.
• Experience within a private equity-backed, acquisitive, or multi-business organization is a plus.
• Strong Excel skills and experience working with ERP/accounting systems.
