Lung Transplant, Ecmo, And Cystic Fibrosis Pulmonologist

The University of South Florida, Morsani College of Medicine and Tampa General Hospital Transplant Institute is seeking a Lung Transplant, ECMO, and Cystic Fibrosis Pulmonologist to expand our Center for Advanced Lung Disease and Lung Transplant program. This full-time clinical position is at the Assistant Professor to Associate Professor Level. As a physician in the Center for Advanced Lung Disease, the candidate will work in a highly collaborative environment with CT surgeons, intensivists, and other transplant specialists. Pulmonologists within the program are responsible for the entire continuum of care for advanced lung disease patients including pre- and post-lung transplant in both inpatient and outpatient settings. As part of the academic team, the candidate will be expected to participate in the multidisciplinary ICU rounds with colleagues, residents and fellows, as well as participate in scholarly activities including clinical research and medical education. Successful candidates must have a medical degree or equivalent and have passed specialty Boards in Medicine and Pulmonary and Critical Care.

The Tampa General Hospital Transplant Institute, in collaboration with the University of South Florida, has created the only Center for Advanced Lung Disease and Lung Transplant Program on the West Coast of Florida serving a population of almost 5 million people. The lung transplant program is part of a comprehensive multi-organ transplant institute (e.g., heart, lung, liver, kidney, and pancreas), which is consistently one of the largest transplant centers in the nation. This is an exciting opportunity to join a dynamic and growing transplant program.

Responsibilities

• Clinical-Provides Pulmonary Transplant Services for the Center for Advanced Lung Disease at TGH and/ or other affiliated hospitals and clinics.
• Teaching-Participate in the USF fellowship program and be expected to develop didactic teaching sessions, grand rounds, clinical teaching of residents and students.
• Administrative-Complete all charting within 48 hours of encounter. Participate in all trainings and required USF/ TGH credentialing and regulatory documentation.
• Responsible to a Chair or other appropriate higher-level administrator of a State university.
• Responsible for teaching, research, service, and related administrative activities.
• Responsible for academic advising and related activities.
• May represent the university, college/school, or department.

Qualifications

Minimal:

Medical degree from an accredited institution or the highest degree appropriate in the field of specialization with a demonstrated record of achievement in teaching, academic research, and service. Must meet university criteria for appointment to the rank of Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor. For Associate/Full Professor - Normally will have produced creative work, professional writing or research in refereed and other professional journals, and be a recognized authority in the field of specialization.

Preferred:

Lung Transplant training and/ or experience. Must hold or be eligible for a full, unrestricted Florida Medical License or foreign equivalent required. To perform this position, the candidate will need to obtain and maintain a full un-restricted FL Medical License, maintain credentials in the USF Health faculty practice plan, and be a medical staff member in good standing at the hospitals he/she is assigned to perform clinical duties. The candidate will participate in the teaching of residents, fellows, and medical students in clinical medicine.

Must be board certified/eligible in Internal Medicine/Pulmonary and Critical Care
