ED Holding Unit Support PositionThis is an ED Holding unit support position located in the float pool. The ED Holding unit has patients located within the Emergency Department that are waiting for an inpatient bed in the hospital. They could have any medical/surgical adult diagnosis. Colostomy care, Feeding tube care and management, Renal Failure, Blood Product Administration, Peripheral Line Care/Management, Phlebotomy, PICC line management, Heparin, Insulin, Isolation Precautions, Chest tubes-Emerson/Pleur-evac, CPAP/BiPAP, High Flow Nasal Cannula (HFNC), Interpretation of ABGs, Nasal Cannula, Non-invasive airway management, Oral Suctioning, Oxygen face masks, Portable Oxygen tank, and Trachesotomy ManagementCerts: BLS, ACLSPreferred Skills/Certs/Exp:NIHSS, IV insulin protocols, Pre/Post Hemodialysis Management, Accessing Ports, Central line blood draw, Starting IVs, CVA, Pre/Post Neuro Surgery, Spinal cord injuries, Traumatic Brain injury, Ortho trauma, Total Joint Replacements, Wound Care/Wound VacJob Details:Ratios: Target Ratios: 1:6 for MS/Tele or 1:4 for PCU level patients.Shift: Night, 36 hours only. Will accept 13 week contracts.Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend required.Contract staff will be assigned and expected to work a Storm Team and/or Hurricane Team. Contract staff may be required to report to work during a catastrophic event, mass casualty or disaster. Consolidation to the Centralized Office mid contract may occur and the contract staff may be preassigned to units as needed.Patient Diagnoses: Any adult Medical/Surgical diagnosesSpecial Procedures/Unit Details: EDIP is our inpatient holding area located within the Emergency DepartmentSpecial Equipment: Standard Equipment, cardiac monitors, IV pumps, other monitoring systemsUnit Systems (Medication, Documentation, Communication): Pyxis, Epic, SBARScheduling Type: Manager SchedulesUnit Orientation: 12 hoursScrubs: NavyInternal Notes: Must pass EKG Testing prior to start for this specialty. Mixed unit with high acuity patients.
