Your day at Howmet Aerospace, Winsted

Clock in, review a new aerospace work order, and load a high-precision fixture on a 5-axis VMC. You verify the program, touch off tools, confirm offsets, and run a first-article part to exacting tolerances. After inspection, you collaborate with Engineering to refine a grinding pass that shaves microns while safeguarding surface finish. Between runs, you share ideas for a Kaizen improvement and mentor a teammate on blueprint interpretation—because here, your craftsmanship and your voice matter.

What you’ll handle

• Set up and operate CNC grinding and CNC milling equipment (3–4 axis VMC and 5+ axis VMC).
• Machine complex, tight-tolerance aerospace components with unwavering quality.
• Read and interpret blueprints; perform precision measurement; adjust tooling and offsets.
• Partner with Engineering, Quality, Maintenance, and Tool Room to elevate processes.
• Champion safety, quality, and teamwork on every job.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• 3–5 years of related experience.
• Background with CNC machining, grinding, milling, or multi‑axis equipment.
• Strong blueprint reading and inspection capabilities.
• Mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting ability.
• Reliable attendance, positive attitude, eagerness to learn, and a team-first mindset.
• Aerospace experience is preferred but strong machinists from other industries are welcome.
