Financial Analyst

Financial AnalystThe Financial Analyst will provide budgeting and analytical support to Southern Company Services (SCS) organizations and Southern Company affiliates by ensuring the timely and accurate review of financial transactions and the reporting of those transactions to various levels of management.This position will coordinate timely, accurate data gathering and analysis for periodic cost projections across supported organizations and projects. The analyst will provide counsel and planning support to management based on analysis findings, help the organization meet corporate and business unit goals, and maintain effective relationships and communication within SCS Budgeting and Reporting and with clients. The position will play a key role in the implementation of a Technology Financial Management (TFM) framework to strengthen TO Budget processes and reporting capabilities.Major ResponsibilitiesDevelop and communicate budgets and financial reporting for the SCS Departments and Major Projects ability to analyze data and effectively communicate SCS Business Unit financial statusOptimize technology financials through implementation of a Technology Financial Management (TFM) FrameworkCoordinate annual budget preparation and communicationsPrepare and communicate monthly variance reporting and comprehensive analysis for budget, actual, and projection informationProvide guidance to managers regarding GAAP and Southern Company accounting policiesEnsure compliance with internal controls and make recommendations regarding needed changes and efficiency improvementsProvide guidance on accounting policies and activities to non-financial managersConsolidate reporting for roll up and management reporting for both SCS Departments and Major ProjectsGather data and analyze periodic cost projections and budget dataParticipate in special projects by gathering information and providing analysisEstablish and maintain effective relationships and communications with business unit and project managersStrong organization skills are a mustJob Requirements:Must have 1-4 years' experience as a Financial Analyst requiredEducationBachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or Technology/EngineeringMBA or Masters' degree in Accounting preferredExperiencePrevious experience in accounting, finance, technology, or business administration preferredTechnology and/or Utility accounting experience is preferredExperience in accounting, cost management and reportingDemonstrated experience with Oracle Cloud ERP, OACS, Oracle Planning, and PowerPlan is preferred Strong experience in Microsoft Office Products (Excel, Access, PowerPoint) highly desiredCapital and O&M budgeting experience desiredProject Cost tracking experience desiredExperience coordinating multiple business unit requests and ensure goals and objectives are met.
