CNC Machinist

Position Overview

My client is seeking a highly skilled CNC Machinist with experience operating Okuma Multus, LU3000 Simulturn, and LB3000 Mill-Turn machines . This role supports a fast-paced aerospace environment focused on precision landing gear components for global MRO operations. The ideal candidate thrives under tight turnaround times, is proficient in programming, and maintains the highest standards of quality and accuracy.

Key Responsibilities
  • Set up, operate, and optimize Okuma Multus, LU3000, and LB3000 mill-turn machines
  • Interpret and machine directly from engineering drawings, blueprints, and CAD models
  • Perform on-machine programming and editing using Okuma controls (OSP)
  • Utilize SolidWorks (CAD/CAM) to assist with part modeling, toolpaths, and program development
  • Manufacture tight-tolerance, custom components -primarily for landing gear applications
  • Execute first article inspections and in-process quality checks using precision measuring tools
  • Maintain 24-hour turnaround expectations while ensuring compliance with aerospace quality standards
  • Select tooling, speeds, and feeds to maximize efficiency and part quality
  • Collaborate with engineering and inspection teams to resolve manufacturing challenges
  • Ensure adherence to AS9100 quality standards and shop procedures
  • Maintain clean, organized, and safe work environment
Qualifications
  • 5+ years of CNC machining experience, preferably in aerospace or high-precision environments
  • Proven experience with:
    • Okuma Multus (multi-axis)
    • Okuma LU3000 Simulturn
    • Okuma LB3000 Mill-Turn
  • Strong G-code programming and editing skills (Okuma OSP control preferred)
  • Working knowledge of SolidWorks (CAD/CAM programming and modeling)
  • Ability to work from complex blueprints with tight tolerances
  • Experience machining hardened materials, alloys, and aerospace-grade metals
  • Proficiency with inspection tools (micrometers, bore gauges, calipers, etc.)
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to work efficiently in a high-speed, deadline-driven environment

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with landing gear components or aerospace MRO work
  • Familiarity with NDT processes and FAA-regulated environments
  • Understanding of ITAR compliance requirements
