This role sits at the critical intersection of hardware integration, embedded systems development, and production-scale software engineering—directly contributing to technology that will reach millions of customers worldwide.As an System Development Engineer on our team, you will design and implement embedded software solutions for new hardware features, working closely with hardware teams to ensure seamless integration and optimal performance. Along the way, you’ll learn from world-class engineers, build systems that scale globally, and see your work ship directly into the hands of customers.In this role, you will:- Architect, design, implement, and validate software solutions for onboard power management systems.- Design and develop close-loop control algorithms that leverage sensor peripherals, microcontrollers, and custom silicon.- Enable data-driven performance insights through automated test execution, collection, and analysis pipelines.- Collaborate with manufacturing team to ensure that every Leo device shipped meets requirements.- Define and execute software release processes, CI/CD, and quality verification.- Work hands-on with hardware test equipment.- Deliver clear documentation and user-focused software for engineering and manufacturing teams.Export Control Requirement:Due to applicable export control laws and regulations, candidates must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (i.e., current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.Basic qualifications- Experience in automating, deploying, and supporting infrastructure- Experience with Linux/Unix- Experience programming with at least one modern language such as Python, C++, C#- Experience working with microcontrollers or embedded systems.Preferred qualification - Experience with CI/CD pipelines build processes- Experience in hardware lab equipment such as digital scopes, logic analyzers, and soldering toolsAmazon is an equal opportunity employer and does not discriminate on the basis of protected veteran status, disability, or other legally protected status.Our inclusive culture empowers Amazonians to deliver the best results for our customers. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
