Manufacturing Process Engineer

Moog's Space & Defense – Power & Data group seeks a Manufacturing Process Engineer in Highland Heights, OH or Cleveland, OH. The role supports all products from design engineering through end‑user support across Simplex, Complex cable, and Transceiver production floors. The position reports to the Operations Manager and is a full‑time, salaried role performed onsite. Key Responsibilities Operational Support for Production Floors Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of fiber optic termination, transceiver processes, wire harness and transceiver design and assembly, and basic optical testing and inspection. Provide hands‑on training of technicians on new or updated processes, including generation of training materials. Source, maintain, and repair production tools, equipment, and fixturing. Perform process analysis to improve production throughput. Perform failure analysis, including evaluation, repair, and retest of inventory fallout and customer RMAs. Provide input for the workflow allocation of incoming sales orders. Technical Documentation Design, create, and manage CAD models and technical drawings for products and fixtures. Create, maintain, and manage process and operation layouts, detailed work instructions, build procedures, assembly aids, and fixture/tooling relevant to production processes. Generate and release part numbers and BOMs. ERP System Management Create, improve, and manage build procedures and BOM requirements. Perform data analysis and generate reports relevant to production processes and throughput. Engineering Project Management Budget time, cost, and resources for projects aimed at process and/or product improvement. Coordinate inter‑departmental efforts and requirements for new product releases. Oversee the introduction of new products (or components) to the production floor. Sales Support Create and/or verify customer‑use CAD models and technical drawings. Provide input relating to manufacturability, lead times, and costs for products. Provide quality and technical support related to internal or external ECNs and CARs. Performance Expectations Work efficiently, ensuring attention to detail and minimal revision required of new design or build processes. Accurately generate estimates of time and cost budgets within engineering projects. Maintain flexibility with variance in scope or schedule. Facilitate measurable reductions to production cycle time or product cost. Facilitate measurable increases in product or process reliability. Maintain a professional demeanor with internal and external contacts. Present detailed technical and schedule reports of past, present, or future work. Meet AS9100 process compliance in execution of department objectives. Continuously improve professional knowledge and skills. Support a safe and hospitable work environment and exemplify Moog’s core values. General Accountabilities Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and regulatory requirements (AS9100, ATEX, ISO). Adhere to Moog operating policies and procedures. Support cross‑functional communications and collaboration. Adhere to standard workdays and hours; be willing to work longer hours or weekends when required. Other duties as assigned. Internal and External Contacts Internal: all levels of management, support staff, technicians. External: vendors. Qualifications BS in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Technology, or Electrical Engineering (preferred). 4+ years manufacturing and/or mechanical engineering experience. 2+ years CAD design experience in a manufacturing environment; proficiency in SolidWorks preferred. Working knowledge of engineering design, test, PCBs, electrical/optical connectors, military specifications. Understanding of fiber‑optic cable and transceiver products and processes. Knowledge of ISO 9001/AS9100 practices and documentation. Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite and analytical problem‑solving skills. Strong organizational, time‑management, and project‑management abilities. Excellent written, verbal communication, and presentation skills. Demonstrated ability to build fiber cable and transceiver products. Ability to work with minimal supervision and manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced environment. Ability to build relationships with diverse groups. Professional integrity and high level of personal ethics. Access to U.S. export‑controlled information required. Work Environment and Physical Requirements Job performed in office and manufacturing setting. Regular talking, hearing, sitting, standing, walking, bending, kneeling, lifting up to 30 lbs, and occasional travel to customers or vendors. Benefits Competitive salary ($70,000–$84,000 annually).
