Payroll Specialist

About the Role Our client is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Payroll Specialist to join their fully remote team. This role is essential for ensuring the accurate and timely processing of payroll for all employees across various locations. You will be responsible for managing all aspects of the payroll cycle, from data entry and verification to tax calculations and compliance. This position requires a self-starter who can manage their workload effectively in a remote setting and maintain strict confidentiality. We are looking for someone with a thorough understanding of payroll regulations and best practices, who can ensure smooth and compliant payroll operations. Key Responsibilities Process bi-weekly or monthly payroll accurately and efficiently, ensuring all employee data is correct. Calculate wages, deductions, taxes, and other payroll-related adjustments. Ensure compliance with all relevant labor laws, tax regulations, and company policies. Manage new hire onboarding for payroll, including setting up new employees in the system. Process terminations, including final pay calculations and documentation. Handle employee queries regarding payroll, benefits, and deductions. Prepare and submit payroll tax filings and other required reports to government agencies. Conduct regular payroll audits to ensure accuracy and identify discrepancies. Maintain payroll records and ensure data integrity and confidentiality. Requirements A minimum of 3 years of experience in payroll processing and administration. Solid understanding of South African payroll legislation, tax laws, and compliance requirements. Proficiency with payroll software (e.g., Sage, PaySpace, VIP Premier) and HRIS systems. Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and calculations. Strong organizational and time management skills, essential for remote work. Good communication and interpersonal skills, to effectively address employee queries. Ability to work independently, manage multiple tasks, and meet strict deadlines.
