Staff Software Engineer - Dev Experience & AI

Salary: $217,000 - 289,000 per year Requirements:

• We want someone with substantial experience in developer experience, platform engineering, or developer productivity, where internal engineers were the primary customers, or who has built developer tools as the product at a developer-tools company.
• We need experience solving problems that only emerge at scale, such as monorepo tooling, build systems like Bazel or similar, CI performance for large test suites, or test framework migrations, with clear evidence of impact before and after.
• We value a product-oriented approach to developer tooling, including defining success metrics in advance and using adoption and engineer satisfaction to measure results.
• Were looking for genuine enthusiasm for AI development tooling, supported by practical opinions shaped by what you have built.
• Bonus experience includes Python ecosystem depth, GitHub Actions at scale, or helping drive standards across an organization of 100+ engineers.
• Bonus experience includes building developer-facing AI tools such as coding agents, AI code review, LLM-powered workflows, or MCP, with a grounded view of where they help and where they do not.

• We will have you own the highest-impact developer experience challenges across engineering end to end, from selecting the right bottleneck to solve through designing the solution and driving company-wide adoption.
• We will rely on you to define and evolve engineering-wide standards for how teams build, test, and ship, while doing the alignment work needed to make those standards stick as we grow.
• We will expect you to improve the speed of working in our large codebase, including build systems, monorepo tooling, CI/CD performance, test reliability, and framework strategy.
• We will have you establish the preferred paths for how engineers use AI, identify the highest-leverage opportunities to deepen AI in the development loop, and help keep us at the leading edge of a fast-moving space.
• We will look to you to drive the technical strategy for breaking up the monolith, including the incremental migration path plus the test isolation and build tooling needed to support it at scale.
• We will expect you to partner closely with product teams to understand their workflows firsthand and treat their feedback as product input.
• We will have you raise the bar for the engineers around you through design reviews, mentorship, and the quality of your own shipped work.
