Resident Care Associate (AM Shifts)

Position Summary The Resident Care Associate (RCA) works the morning shift, Sunday‑Thursday. Duties include personal care, companion care, nursing assistance and other tasks for residents in Eskaton communities. Responsibilities involve direct resident care, assisting with daily living activities, grocery or personal shopping, errands and other domestic tasks, as well as documentation of care provided. Duties may be adjusted based on resident needs and the discretion of the Resident Care Coordinator, Memory Care Coordinator or Wellness Nurse. Starting salary ranges from $20.65 to $25.75 per hour. Base pay is influenced by scope and responsibilities, experience, education/training, market and business considerations. Essential Job Functions Provides or assists in bathing or showering for thorough cleanliness and hygiene. Assists residents in dressing and ensures privacy while giving care. Provides companion care, including reading, attending to correspondence, and other tasks listed on residents’ service plans. Makes beds, straightens rooms and maintains an organized care area. Prepares light meals when noted on the resident’s service plan. Assists residents in scheduling appointments and may accompany them to appointments, as directed by the care team. Promotes independence while ensuring safety for both resident and self. Assists with range‑of‑motion exercises and ambulation according to endurance levels; may aid residents in fitness programs. Applies medical or adaptive devices as instructed by medical professionals. Collects specimens when directed by care leadership. May deliver meal trays or escort residents to the dining room. Assists with personal laundry and dry cleaning. Follows Eskaton emergency protocol and policies. Completes weight checks per the service plan. Provides respite services for spouses and family members. Assists with pet care. Participates in or leads activities per instructions from the Life Enrichment Director, Resident Care Director, Memory Care Director or Wellness Nurse. Follows safety guidelines, uses proper body mechanics, and wears appropriate safety gear. Qualifications Education: High school graduate or equivalent preferred. Training & Experience Six months of personal care experience in an RCFE or other long‑term care setting preferred. Valid/current first aid certification required. Knowledge & Abilities Knowledge of personal care services in a residential environment. Ability to handle new or stressful situations appropriately, work as part of a healthcare team, share information, seek supervision, follow verbal and written instructions, and work with pets of various sizes.
