About the Role Honey Mama’s is seeking an experienced, hands‑on Controller to lead the finance and accounting function! This role combines people leadership with deep technical accounting expertise and day‑to‑day execution. The Controller will own all financial and accounting operations, ensure accurate and timely reporting, and serve as a key business partner to leadership and operations. Key Responsibilities Financial & Accounting Operations Own the full accounting lifecycle for Honey Mama’s, including general ledger management, journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial close Lead and manage the monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance Prepare, review, and analyze monthly financial statements (P&L, balance sheet, cash flow) Ensure proper revenue recognition, expense matching, accruals, reserves, and cutoff procedures Establish, document, and continuously improve accounting policies and procedures Oversee fixed asset accounting, capitalization policies, and depreciation Manage inventory accounting, including standard costing, physical inventory counts, and reconciliations Review and approve balance sheet reconciliations; investigate and resolve discrepancies Oversee tax‑related accounting matters and coordinate with external tax advisors for income, sales/use, and other applicable taxes Serve as the primary liaison with external auditors and accountants; manage audit and financial review processes Manufacturing & Cost Accounting Oversee cost accounting for Honey Mama’s food manufacturing operations, including raw materials, labor, overhead, and packaging Maintain accurate product costing and standard cost systems Analyze manufacturing variances (material, labor, overhead, yield) and partner with operations to understand root causes Monitor inventory valuation, reserves, and obsolescence Provide margin analysis by product and channel to support pricing and profitability decisions Budgeting, Forecasting & Financial Analysis Lead the annual budgeting process and periodic reforecasting Develop and maintain financial models to support growth initiatives and strategic planning Analyze actual results versus budget and forecast; provide clear, actionable variance explanations Prepare financial dashboards and reporting for leadership Support capital expenditure planning and ROI analysis Cash Flow, Controls & Compliance Monitor cash flow, working capital, and liquidity needs Oversee accounts receivable, accounts payable, and payroll processes Design, maintain, and strengthen internal controls to safeguard Honey Mama’s assets Ensure compliance with GAAP, company policies, and applicable federal, state, and local regulations Identify financial risks and recommend mitigation strategies Lead, mentor, and develop the finance and accounting team Set priorities, assign responsibilities, and ensure deadlines are met Review team output for accuracy and completeness Coach team members on technical accounting topics and best practices Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement Business Partnership Act as a trusted financial advisor to Honey Mama’s leadership team Partner cross-functionally with operations, supply chain, and sales Translate financial data into clear insights for non-financial stakeholders Support data-driven decision-making across the organization Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance or related field CPA preferred 4+ years of progressive accounting and finance experience Prior experience as a Controller, Assistant Controller, or Senior Accounting Manager Manufacturing experience (food or CPG strongly preferred) Proven people leadership experience Hands‑on, detail‑oriented mindset Key Attributes for Success at Honey Mama’s Comfortable balancing strategy with hands‑on execution Strong technical accounting foundation Clear communicator who can explain financial concepts simply Proactive, organized, and solutions‑oriented #J-18808-Ljbffr
