Job Summary:

The Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Manager I is responsible for technical, functional and program management for a business unit (fixed facility location/plant). The EHS Manager I collaborates with the site level leadership, management, supervisory, and employee teams to drive safety culture. Champions implementation of effective strategies and tactics associated with safety, health, and environmental programs and initiatives. Plans, directs, and provides advanced technical and professional environmental & safety support services to site.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Possess a thorough understanding of local/regional regulations and company policies.
• Measure safety performance against site safety KPIs. Identify a plan for the site to implement and fix all identified deficiencies.
• Ensure safety recordkeeping and data integrity and provides site with accurate reporting and metrics to support business safety initiatives.
• Responsible for managing EHS practices; administer/implement EHS programs and policies outlined by OSHA, EPA and DOT as appropriate and maintain all pertinent records.
• Implements written EHS programs and company safety policies aligned with Federal & State requirements (i.e., OSHA, EPA or the respective State agencies). Administer the local hearing conservation program per OSHA regulatory requirements Manages effective implementation of various EHS programs, including, but not limited to life critical safety programs, such as electrical safety, lockout tagout, machine guarding, confined space entry.
• Leads and/or supports EHS management systems.
• Supports reporting and early management of EHS-related incidents, Workers’ Compensation claims, and maintains EHS-related metrics. Analyzes EHS-related incident trends and partners with site leaders to implement controls to prevent recurrence. Interacts with third party insurance administrator, as well as site and corporate Risk Management regarding WC claims.
• Maintains regulatory reporting, records, and serves as site liaison with regulatory officials during inspections; have all EHS records and files current and inspection ready.
• Provide guidance regarding site EHS investigation process. Work with local line leaders to implement processes to prevent reoccurrence.
• Designated as company liaison with all insurance representatives; be present during all inspections involving outside parties; give recommended strategies for improving safety performance; manages all statistics to prioritize areas of immediate concern; and customize training efforts tailored to those areas.
• Organizes and administers EHS training program. Reviews EHS training curricula and attendance/completion. Develops and provides instructor-led training. Maintains records for instructor-led training and certifications, working closely with site learning system administrator to capture accurate records of attendance.
• Promotes a positive safety culture. Develops, implements, and administers EHS programs, training, and other documents and records. Encourages employee participation, observation, feedback, and recognition programs.
• May lead and mentor other EHS professionals, interns, contractors, or contingent workers.
• Responsible for overseeing and monitoring EHS aspects of Ethical Sourcing guidelines.
• Ensures emergency preparedness to include incident response, drills, evacuation planning, and emergency action plan responsibilities.
• Other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience:

• Requires a minimum of a BA/BS degree in science, engineering or related discipline and 5-10 or more years of related experience.
• Credentials as a CSP, OHST, CIH, CHMM, or other recognized certifications are a plus.
• Experience in a manufacturing setting preferred, food & beverage is a plus.
• Experience leading EHS management systems and programs required.

Exact compensation may vary based on skills, experience and location.

The pay range for this position is

$130,400—$150,300 USD
