Illinois CancerCare is seeking a full-time Advanced Practice Provider (APP) to join our dedicated team. We are expanding our team of Advanced Practice Providers to enhance patient access and reduce scheduling disruptions, ensuring timely, high-quality care for every patient. This is a deeply rewarding specialty where your expertise and compassion will have a lasting impact on patients and their families.

As an APP at Illinois CancerCare, you'll be part of a collaborative, mission-driven team providing comprehensive, patient-centered cancer care. You'll work both independently and alongside physicians to assess, diagnose, and manage oncology patients across outpatient and satellite clinic settings.

Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities

Clinical Care

• Deliver expert oncology care including assessments, diagnosis, treatment planning, and symptom management.
• Manage acute and chronic conditions related to cancer and its treatments.
• Perform procedures such as bone marrow biopsies and manage oncology emergencies.
• Provide care at satellite clinics with autonomy and physician collaboration.
• Educate patients and families on treatment plans, medications, and side effects.

Collaboration & Communication

• Serve as a key liaison between patients, families, physicians, and clinic staff.
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation in EMR systems.
• Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings and case reviews.

Education & Leadership

• Develop and deliver educational programs for patients, families, and staff.
• Mentor nursing staff and contribute to continuing education initiatives.
• Collaborate with the Lead APP to identify and address knowledge gaps.

Program Development & Advocacy

• Direct strategic planning of Advanced Practice Provider Program to promote continued growth and value to the practice.
• Advocate for the role of APPs within the organization and the broader healthcare community.

Qualifications

Nurse Practitioner (NP):

• Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) from an accredited nursing program.
• Successful completion of a Nurse Practitioner program.
• Current RN licensure and registration with the State Board of Nursing in Illinois.
• Current state licensure as a Nurse Practitioner.
• Basic Life Support (BLS)/CPR certification required.
• 13 years of post-MSN experience preferred, ideally in oncology or a related specialty.

Physician Assistant (PA):

• Successful completion of an accredited Physician Assistant program.
• Current certification by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA).
• Current state license as a Physician Assistant in Illinois.
• Basic Life Support (BLS)/CPR certification required.
• 13 years of clinical experience preferred, ideally in oncology or a related specialty.

Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS):

• Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) from an accredited nursing program.
• Successful completion of a Clinical Nurse Specialist program.
• Current RN licensure and registration with the State Board of Nursing in Illinois.
• Current state licensure as a Clinical Nurse Specialist.
• Basic Life Support (BLS)/CPR certification required.
• 13 years of post-MSN experience preferred, ideally in oncology or a related specialty.
