This role is based in a community health clinic, primarily operating remotely to provide flexible access to clients. Initial assessments and therapy sessions can be conducted online via secure video conferencing, allowing for greater reach and comfort for our patients. You will collaborate closely with an interdisciplinary team of healthcare professionals, including psychiatrists and addiction specialists, fostering a synergistic approach to patient care.

  • Conduct comprehensive assessments to understand the specific needs, goals, and challenges of each patient seeking treatment for substance use disorders.

  • Develop individualized treatment plans tailored to each patient's circumstances, utilizing evidence-based therapeutic interventions that align with best practices in addiction recovery.

  • Deliver one-on-one counseling sessions applying various therapeutic methodologies, such as Motivational Interviewing and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), to facilitate meaningful dialogue and transformation.

  • Lead group therapy sessions that provide peer support and education on addiction recovery strategies, fostering a sense of community among participants.

  • Work collaboratively with your team to provide integrated and coordinated care, ensuring each patient benefits from the collective expertise of multiple specialists.

  • Respond to and manage crises related to substance use emergencies, utilizing established protocols to ensure patient safety and effective intervention.

  • Provide education and resources to patients and their families about substance use disorders, recovery options, and community supports available to aid in the recovery journey.

  • Maintain accurate documentation of all patient interactions and treatment activities consistent with legal and ethical standards to ensure best practices in confidentiality and care.

  • Participate actively in team meetings, contributing to discussions on patient care and professional development initiatives, while staying updated on emerging research in substance use treatment.

Patient Population / Client Focus\n

This role centers on individuals grappling with substance use disorders, which frequently intersect with various mental health challenges. You will work with a diverse client base, including those who may have co-occurring mental health disorders or are in various stages of addiction. Your ability to engage empathetically and effectively with these individuals will be critical to their recovery journey.

Qualifications\n

  • A Master’s or Doctoral degree in Social Work, Mental Health Counseling, Marriage and Family Therapy, or Psychology from an accredited institution.
  • \n
  • Current and valid licensure as an LCSW-C, LCPC, LMFT, or LCMFT within the state of Maryland.
  • \n
  • Robust knowledge of substance use disorder treatment methodologies and recovery-oriented care principles.
  • \n
  • Demonstrable experience in providing both individual and group therapy in an addiction treatment context.
  • \n
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills, characterized by a compassionate and non-judgmental approach to client interactions.

  • Capability to uphold professional boundaries and maintain strict confidentiality in all client communications.

  • Proficiency in using electronic health record (EHR) systems and other relevant software to track patient progress and maintain documentation.
