Job Summary Assist the surgical team in preparing surgical procedures in the operating room. Responsibilities include creating and maintaining a sterile field, retracting and passing instruments, supplies, and medications to surgeons, and performing various technical tasks to maintain supplies. Job Requirements Education and Work Experience High School Education/GED or equivalent: Required Associate's/Technical Degree or equivalent combination of education/related experience: Preferred Scrub technician experience: Preferred Operating room experience and/or training course: Preferred Licenses/Certifications Certified Surgery Technician (CST) or Tech in Surgery TS-C (NCCT) certification: Required Basic Life Support (BLS OR HS‑BLS OR RQIBLS) or Cardiac Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification: Required Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification: Preferred Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) or Tech in Surgery (NCCT‑ST): Required Essential Functions Prepare for each surgical case by accurately checking required supplies and equipment prior to the case, assembling appropriate supplies, and reviewing equipment inventory for specialty areas as assigned. Set up operative instrumentation and sterile field for expedient retrieval/utilization. Collect data on assigned surgical cases according to unit performance standards. Clean equipment and facilities as necessary and perform housekeeping duties as requested. Transport patients according to unit schedules and priorities and provide clerical duties. Complete instrument, sponge, needle, and blade counts with the Registered Nurse (RN) according to established standards. Maintain a neat and orderly sterile field, demonstrate careful attention to aseptic technique, and label solutions according to established standards. Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
